Smartvid.Io, Purdue Ect Team Apr 2017

Smartvid.Io, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

The collection, organization, and retrieval of industrial media is a pervasive challenge that is especially glaring for companies in the AEC industry. Construction projects often generate large volumes of pictures & videos from the field for tracking progress and communicating between engineers, contractors, and subcontractors. It is not uncommon for field personnel to capture hundreds of photos per week on any given jobsite.

Smartvid.io is a cloud-based software solution designed for the specific needs of industrial media. The application’s internal deep-learning engines, collectively nicknamed VINNIE (for ‘Very Intelligent Neural Network for Insight and Evaluation’), use speech and image recognition to …

The Appia system can manage the business processes in the major functional areas of the project life-cycle – estimation, bid management and construction – due to its flexible configuration and customizable business rules, providing organizations the opportunity to simplify and standardize their processes.

Decision Aid For Electronic Simulation In Construction, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Decision Aid For Electronic Simulation In Construction, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

The Decision Aid for Electronic Simulation in Construction is an output of the research “Electronic Simulation in Construction” sponsored by CII (Construction Industry Institute). The Web-based Decision Aid was developed to assist a decision-maker in utilizing the results of this research. This system along with the database allows the user to (i) establish the need for electronic simulation, (ii) ascertain specific needs with respect to application domain, product features, and operating system requirements, and (iii) identify products and suppliers that support the need and requirements established in the previous steps.

Lean Project Delivery System, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Lean Project Delivery System, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

The Lean Construction Institute, (LCI), founded in August 1997, is currently doing research to develop knowledge regarding the design and implementation of project based production systems in the design, engineering, and construction of capital facilities. Lean Project Delivery System (LPDS) model consists of 13 modules, 9 of which are organized in 4 interconnecting triads or phases extending from project definition to design to supply and assembly, plus 2 production control modules and the work structuring module, both conceived to extend through all project phases, and the post-occupancy evaluation module, which links the end of one project to the beginning of …

Prrt™: Project Rework Reduction Tool, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Prrt™: Project Rework Reduction Tool, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

PRRTTM was designed to engage all project participants and stakeholders. Implemented as early as possible in a project’s timeline, it promises to consistently improve the likelihood of project success through the elimination of rework at all phases in all of projects development. It can be applied to all Process Industry EPC projects, irrespective of size and location.

Augmented Reality Computer-Aided Drawing (Ar-Cad), Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Augmented Reality Computer-Aided Drawing (Ar-Cad), Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

While Virtual Reality (VR) replaces the entire real world with virtual images, Augmented Reality (AR) superimposes virtual images on the real world. Augmented Reality (a most useful form of Mixed Reality (MR)) is a popular concept for using computers to overlay virtual information onto a view of the real world. In 2000, Phillip Dunston then at the University of Washington in Seattle and his research team presented the initial concept of AR CAD developed for supporting design and construction. The AR CAD concept is the addition of an AR assistant viewer to standard CAD to provide a more intuitive interaction …

Dynamic Construction Visualizer, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Dynamic Construction Visualizer, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

The Dynamic Construction Visualizer (DCV) is general-purpose 3D visualization system that allows simulation model developers to animate modeled operations with chronological and spatial accuracy in 3D virtual space. The system is independent of any particular simulation-modeling program or CAD modeling software.

Realabor: Labor Management Software, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Realabor: Labor Management Software, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

In the construction industry, many operations and processes are labor intensive. Efficient management of labor or human resources can be key in a successful construction project. REALabor is a real time labor cost and productivity tool designed for the daily interactive tracking of performance on the job site. REALabor is an electronic daily timesheet that displays all employees and all cost codes for a project on one sheet.

Updater™: Mobile Schedule Tracking Software, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Updater™: Mobile Schedule Tracking Software, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

Virginia Tech and Primavera Systems, Inc. have developed a software interface, called Updater, to enable automatic electronic transport of schedule information between the desktop (DT) schedule and a portable palm-held (PH) computer. The Updater aims at simplifying the process of updating construction schedules, and ultimately improving the consistency and quality of updates. The system employs palm-held computers to eliminate reliance on potentially incomplete or unreliable mental or field notes.

Emerging Video Surveillance And Monitoring Technologies, Purdue Ect Team Jan 2007

Emerging Video Surveillance And Monitoring Technologies, Purdue Ect Team

ECT Fact Sheets

The traditional video surveillance applications have some limitations; 1) one unit per one person in one place, 2) the limited area for surveillance due to the location of cameras 3) increasing operating cost, 4) hard reductions in theft and claim rates over the long term. Recently, video technology has grown by leaps and bounds throughout the last few years due to the steep development of Information Technology (IT). The newest video surveillance technologies seem to be taking two aspects: 1) Digital Video Surveillance (DVS) of a turn toward digital video servers using Internet access, and 2) Multi-modal User Interface (MUI).
