The performance of high voltage electrical substations during an earthquake significantly contributes to regional resilience by providing electrical power to public entities, businesses and homes following an earthquake. Utilities try to minimize the seismic impact by qualifying individual equipment, but rarely evaluate the interconnected substation bay as a whole. In this study, three detailed numerical models were developed using the seismic qualification reports of individual electrical equipment as basis for the components within 115kV, 230kV, and 500 kV substation bay systems.
