Meridian-Projecting Instruments And Methods, Albert Babbitt Bartlett Jan 1907

Meridian-Projecting Instruments And Methods, Albert Babbitt Bartlett

Bachelors Theses

"The writer's attention was called to the necessity of knowing the accuracy attainable in surveying which must depend upon the Meridian, and therefore be subject to the accuracy of it, in seeking information by which to decide what would be the most desirable transit to use in the West, particularly for United States Deputy Mineral Surveying. Descriptions of the manipulation, adjustments, and the cost, etc., of the various appliances are plentiful in the text-books on surveying and in the various catalogues; but there was no very definite information in regard to the actual probable and average accuracy, especially in the …

The Design Of Main Street Reinforced Concrete Arch Over Frisco R. R., Hyman Zirulick

Bachelors Theses

"Owing to the cheapness and durability of reinforced concrete, the tendency of the present time in Engineering practice is to build new and replace old structures with reinforced concrete. Therefore, in taking up a subject for a thesis, I have selected, The Investigation of the Design of a Reinforced concrete Arch," or, as I named it, "Main Street Reinforced concrete Arch over Frisco Railroad"--Introduction, page 1.

Graphical Representation Of Compressed Air Formulae, John Thomas Vitt, Paul Andrew Philippi Jan 1907

Graphical Representation Of Compressed Air Formulae, John Thomas Vitt, Paul Andrew Philippi

Bachelors Theses

"Air during compression and expansion obeys the same laws as do other gases and these laws have been mathematically stated by purely rational formulae. Most of these formulae are logarithmic and their use involves a considerable amount of work. The object of this thesis is to present these formulae in such form that problems involving their use may be readily and easily solved. It was decided to present them graphically and the accompanying curves are the results of our labors"--page 1.
