Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software can optimize the product design process prior to manufacturing. This project examines engineering solutions using CAD software called SolidWorks. It simulates how the product will behave under a variety of engineering constraints. These simulations allow designers to optimize performance, cost, and speed efficiencies. The project uses simulations and finite element analysis to replicate real world behavior. It presents high-level capabilities in the design process, exposing new engineers to simulation tools that are available and relevant in mechanical engineering design. This project required independent research to obtain an advanced understanding of the software interface and capabilities.

Adhesive joints are widely used in a variety of industrial applications utilizing the improved mechanical properties they provide over traditional mechanical joining methods. [1] The lap joint is a usual test specimen with a view to assessing the strength and properties of joints.
This study deals with the stiffness, strength and fracture behavior of multi-material single-lap joints. It describes the mechanical behavior of a multi-material single lap joints subjected to static tensile loading in the longitudinal direction. Geopolymers are the results of geosynthetic reactions between aluminosilicates and strong bases. This results in chemical bonds between aluminum (Al), Silicon (Si)and oxygen (O) composing polymer rings in tetrahedral coordination. In this research statics analysis of circular plates is performed using SolidWorks.
Circular plates with different material properties, thickness to radius ratios, and boundary conditions under mechanical loads are modeled and analyzed in SolidWorks.
The results are obtained for deflections of circular plates under uniform and point loads.
A three-dimensional (3D) model of circular plates is first created in SolidWorks. Then the material properties, mechanical loads and boundary conditions are defined for the plate.

The problem of coalescence-induced self-propelled jumping of droplet is studied using three-dimensional numerical simulation. The focus is on the effect of inertia and in particular the effect of air density on the behavior of the merged droplet during jumping. A lattice Boltzmann method is used for two identical, static micro-droplets coalescing on a homogeneous substrate with contact angle ranging from 0◦ to 180◦. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an intracranial injury caused by direct contact or non-contact head impacts to the brain. TBI is a major problem that accounts for high incidents of hospitalizations each year. Thus, it is important to understand and predict the occurrence of TBI in an impact. It has been shown that the subarachnoid space (SAS) trabeculae play an important role in damping the effect of an impact, thus reducing the injuries.
