Presented herein is a study of the effectiveness of suspended lead dampers for use in steel buildings under a localized impact load and a vertical pulsating load. A series of lead spheres mounted on a string are suspended inside the building columns or damping panels to absorb the energy of vibration through a collision between the lead dampers and internal surfaces of the members. Experiments are conducted on a three-story steel building model and a cantilever member with suspended lead dampers and subjected to localized impact loading. This electronic document file set consists of an overview presentation (PDF-formatted) file and companion video (MP4) and CADD files (DWG & DXF) for laser cutting the ETSU-developed alternate top bracing designs and marking templates for the STEM Guitar Project’s BBT (OM-sized) standard acoustic guitar kit. The three (3) alternative BBT top bracing designs in this release are
(a) a one-piece base for the standard kit's (Martin-style) bracing,
(b) 277 Ladder-style bracing, and
(c) an X-braced fan-style bracing similar to traditional European or so-called 'classical' acoustic guitars.

To provide energy-efficient space heating and cooling, a thermoelectric building envelope (TBE) embeds thermoelectric devices in building walls. The thermoelectric device in the building envelope can provide active heating and cooling without requiring refrigerant use and energy transport among subsystems. Thus, the TBE system is energy and environmentally friendly. A few studies experimentally investigated the TBE under limited operating conditions, and only simplified models for the commercial thermoelectric module (TEM) were developed to quantify its performance. This project will be on the Nutrition and Health side of Kensing where we manufacture Vitamin E. The problem for the students to solve will be the lack of secondary containment for our dewaxing building. The building uses acetone to thin the vitamin E for filtering to remove pesticides. We used to have onsite waste treatment, so the acetone could go right to our process sewer, but the onsite waste treatment has since been removed. If acetone goes to the process sewer today (i.e. if a spill were to occur), we would be fined by the city. If we plug …
