We investigate a concept called PREP – Pragmatic Research on Educational Practice, with the goal of engaging engineering educators in studying, documenting and sharing their initiatives to improve teaching practices. This concept is compared to other methodologies where the researcher and educational practitioner sometimes coincide. The study is based on a pilot, with six participants following the PREP program for three months, which we study autoethnographically. We also carried out a focus group discussion (n=12) to investigate to what extent university teachers regard the ideas from the PREP program as helpful for studying educational activities and sharing what they do …

Introduction. Federal grant funding to support infrastructure development of translational biomedical research centers is a form of public health intervention. Establishing rigorous methods for measuring center success and outcomes is essential to justify continued funding. Methods. Bibliometric data compiled from a 5-year funding cycle of a neurodegeneration and translational neuroscience research center was analyzed using the package bibliometrix for open source software R and the NIH-developed research tool iCite. Results. The research team and their collaborators (n=485) produced 157 grant-citing publications from 2015-2020. The movement of green buildings started all over the world after the development of different rating tools for the assessment of green buildings. In the present study, the research trends in the area of green building rating tools (GBRTs) were analysed through the Scopus database from the year 2000-2020. By using the different combinations of keywords, relevant articles were found after refining the search results. In this study, 482 relevant articles from the first set of keywords were considered till the period 4th February 2021 for further analysis. A mid-sized private university in the Southeast has created an experimental first-year engineering course based on the Wright State Model for Engineering Mathematics Education. The course aims to increase student retention, motivation and success in engineering through an application-oriented, hands-on introduction to engineering mathematics. When compared to the traditional Wright State Model for Engineering Mathematics Education, the new course also focused on student communication (written, oral), teamwork, self-regulated learning and professionalism. The new experimental course also uses more frequent and formative assessment techniques. Engineering programs can be very demanding, particularly in the first years where students encounter new forms of highly challenging coursework. To better prepare and support students, educators must acknowledge non-academic factors, such as the role of self-beliefs and personal attributes. Education research suggests that students are more likely to give up and disengage from their studies when they lack grit or assume a fixed mindset. The Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) is a research program which is owned and operated by the Mars Society. The MDRS is located in Hanksville, Utah which hosts simulations that are typically two weeks long for professional scientists and engineers as well as college students of all levels, in training for human operations specifically on Mars. In collaboration with Embry-Riddle Future Space Explorers and Developers Society (ERFSEDS), we came up with the idea to build a quad-copter/sensor system that could be deployed from a rocket. The goal is to build a new chassis for the quad-copters electronic components that will allow the quad-copters arms to fold inwards to meet the required space constraints of a rocket. In addition to the critical components of the quad-copter, our design will integrate a number of other data collecting sub-systems currently being used in a weather balloon designed by Society 4 S.P.A.C.E. club members. The number of successful cyber attacks continues to increase, threatening financial and personal security worldwide. Cyber/digital forensics is undergoing a paradigm shift in which evidence is frequently massive in size, demands live acquisition, and may be insufficient to convict a criminal residing in another legal jurisdiction. This paper presents the findings of the first broad needs analysis survey in cyber forensics in nearly a decade, aimed at obtaining an updated consensus of professional attitudes in order to optimize resource allocation and to prioritize problems and possible solutions more efficiently. Innovation is becoming a critical determinant of the survival and advancement of firms. Despite this realization, there is a dearth of literature that tackles the subject matter and its specific role in corporate settings remains vague. Using corporate data on East and Southeast Asian manufacturing firms from 2008 to 2013, this study aims to identify the impact of corporate financial performance on research and development (R&D) expenditure as a measure of innovation.
