Using Sustainable Technique To Recycle Waste Paper In Academic Institutions, Mustafa M. Mansour
Using Sustainable Technique To Recycle Waste Paper In Academic Institutions, Mustafa M. Mansour
Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences
It has been clearly demonstrated that it would be feasible to consider recycling paper in an academic institution. This can be achieved through combining specific waste paper baskets, a pulping machine and power supplied by a renewable energy source, with an already established local paper making company. The paper making company would be able to gain a subsidy from the government which pays them to actually recycle paper, to counteract the cost of the pulped paper which is 30% more expensive than raw wood pulp. The academic institution would save money on waste disposal and decrease its carbon footprint by …

Comparative Investigations On Microextraction And Conventional Air Sampling Techniques: Challenges And Future Directions, Firoz Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Roni, Ashiqur Rahman, Sayed M A Salam
Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences
Microextraction technique (e.g., solid phase microextraction, thin film microextraction, in-tube extraction) brings a revolutionary change in air sampling techniques over the recent few years. This advanced technique exhibits a high pollutant extraction rate, a low retention time, and a lower error margin compared to conventional air sampling techniques. The accuracy range of microextraction technique (MET) was recorded ~90-95% to isolate the volatile organic components, oxygenated and halogenated carbon particles from the air. However, the efficiency of MET increases additional >3-5% when employed by coupled with gas chromatography or gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The conventional sampling techniques (e.g., bag sampling, grab sampling) …

Wood-polymer composites (WPCs) combine the properties of wood and polymers. Creating composites involves adding plant or wood fibers as fillers to a polymer matrix. This study used mahogany and mango wood sawdust as reinforcement materials, while high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) were used as matrices. The investigated data in this study comprises four different (10, 20, 30, and 40) weight percentages (wt%) of mahogany and mango sawdust paired with corresponding wt% (90, 80, 70, and60) of HDPE and PVC matrices. The extrusion method produced composites with different amounts of sawdust and polymer matrices. Wood polymer composites were characterized …

Measurement Of Thermal Conductivity Of Epoxy Resin Reinforced With Different Weight Ratios Of Glass And Carbon Powders, Edrees Edaan Ghadeer
Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences
The effect of thermal conductivity was studied on the composites prepared before and after reinforcement with different weight fractions (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 wt %), using a Disc Lee's device, and the dispersion of the filler was studied by morphological analysis of the complexes using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The (SEM) of glass composite powders, showed a smooth surface with a chance of forming very few voids, clusters and blisters on the surface of the sample, which increased with the increase of the weight fractions of the filled powder. While the composites filled with carbon powders show smooth …
