This paper briefly describes the resumption and development of graduate education in China and addresses the rapidly changing situation in higher education. The author represents the first of less than a dozen professors who have been invited by the Chinese Government (during 1984-1986) to establish and develop a unique degree program called the Master of Information Engineering which represents a synthesis of Quantitative areas of Business Studies, Management Information Systems, Management Science and Computer Science.
