Comparative Assessment Of Downscaling Methods And Application Towards Analysis Of Climate Change Impact On Urban Regions, Markus Eichenbaum
Comparative Assessment Of Downscaling Methods And Application Towards Analysis Of Climate Change Impact On Urban Regions, Markus Eichenbaum
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
Global climate models (GCM) are sophisticated numerical models used to make long term climate projections. However, the resolution of their output is too coarse for climate change related local impact studies on urban regional scales. Downscaling efforts are taken to address this and increase GCM projection resolution. Physical Scaling (SP) downscaling methodology attempts to incorporate the physical basis of dynamical downscaling efforts with the computational efficiency of statistical methods. In this study, North American Regional Reanalysis surface skin temperature and precipitation data for a 1°x1° region centered on Houston, TX are downscaled to a resolution of 500m via SP and …

High Temperature Dislocation Structure And Nbc Precipitation In Three Ni-Fe-Nb-C Model Alloys, Andrii Kostryzhev, Parvez Mannan, Olexandra Marenych
High Temperature Dislocation Structure And Nbc Precipitation In Three Ni-Fe-Nb-C Model Alloys, Andrii Kostryzhev, Parvez Mannan, Olexandra Marenych
Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A
In this original work, the dislocation structure and NbC precipitation were investigated in three Ni-based alloys (70Ni-Fe-0.331Nb-0.040C, 70Ni-Fe-0.851Nb-0.114C and 70Ni-Fe-1.420Nb-0.157C, wt%) thermomechanically processed in the temperature range of 1250-1075 °C. The dislocation structure inhomogeneity (dislocation networks and cell walls), which we observed in the middle and high Nb+C alloys, resulted from the dislocation pile-ups in the vicinity of >200 nm NbC particles. The dislocation density around >200 nm particles exceeded the average values by 5-7 times, and that in the cell walls might exceed the average values by 10 times. Twins and stacking faults were observed in all alloys after …

Effect Of Austenite Deformation Temperature On Nb Clustering And Precipitation In Microalloyed Steel, E V Pereloma, A G Kostryzhev, A Alshahrani, C Zhu, J M. Cairney, C R. Killmore, S P. Ringer
Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A
The effect of thermomechanical processing conditions on Nb clustering and precipitation in both austenite and ferrite in a Nb-Ti microalloyed steel was studied using electron microscopy and atom probe tomography. A decrease in the deformation temperature increased the Nb-rich precipitation in austenite and decreased the extent of precipitation in ferrite. Microstructural mechanisms that explain this variation are discussed. 2013 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Effect Of Deformation Temperature On Niobium Clustering, Precipitation And Austenite Recrystallisation In A Nb-Ti Microalloyed Steel, Andrii G. Kostryzhev, Abdullah Al Alshahrani, Chen Zhu, Simon P. Ringer, Elena V. Pereloma
Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A
The effect of deformation temperature on Nb solute clustering, precipitation and the kinetics of austenite recrystallisation were studied in a steel containing 0.081C–0.021Ti–0.064 Nb (wt%). Thermo-mechanical processing was carried out using a Gleeble 3500 simulator. The austenite microstructure was studied using a combination of optical microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atom probe microscopy, enabling a careful characterisation of grain size, as well as Nb-rich clustering and precipitation processes. A correlation between the austenite recrystallisation kinetics and the chemistry, size and number density of Nb-rich solute atom clusters, and NbTi(C,N) precipitates was established via the austenite deformation temperature. Specifically, we have …

Rainfall Variability And Crop Zones Classification For The Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria, Shaibu M. Hassan Phd
Confluence Journal Environmental Studies (CJES), Kogi State University, Nigeria
This study aims at analyzing agro-climatological parameters and establishing a link between some selected agro-climatological indices and sustainability of agricultural production in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Two sets of data, climatic and crop yield data were collected and subjected to various agro-climatological analyses. Agro-climatological analyses include the derivation of Onset, Cessation and Length of Rainy Season (LRS), Seasonality Index, Drought Index and Precipitation Periodicity Index. The statistical analyses include monthly and annual means, deviation from the mean, trend line. The result of moisture index in line with crops optimum moisture requirement was used to classify the Territory into agro-climatic …
