Stability Analysis Of A Unified Power Flow Controller, Omar H. Abdalla, Mohamed A. E. Ghazy, Lotfy M. Lotfy, Nermeen A. M. Hassan

Omar H. Abdalla

The paper concerns with stability analysis of a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). A nonlinear model is described in the abc-reference frame and then transformed into the dq0-reference frame. The model includes shunt and series compensators of the UPFC. Stability analysis is presented first in a three-dimensional space of system parameters. A linearized model is obtained in state-space form to be used in small-signal stability studies. Effects of system parameters on stability are investigated using eigenvalue analysis. These include resistance, reactance, and modulation indices of the shunt and series components of the UPFC. Simulation results show that the stability of …

Switching Circuit For A Permanent Magnet Dc Motor, Alex Boatman

Electrical Engineering

The project is a circuit that will basically supply current from the battery to the different stator coils at opportune moments. With a hall-effect sensor on the shaft as a feedback to a microcontroller, I was able to toggle switches based on the position of the shaft at the moments where we would be using as little power as possible. The operation of the control circuit works similar to a stepper motor; it takes a signal from the microcontroller that is sent to some FET drivers, which in turn sends signals to the FETs to open or close as the …

Enhanced [Ru(Bpy)_3]~(2+)-Mediated Oxidation Of Guanine Prompted By Dhp, Bao-Lian Zhang, Wei Hong, Bao-Yi Lu, Hong Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

The effects of dihexadecyl phosphate(DHP) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs) on the oxidation of guanine mediated by[Ru(bpy)3]2+ on the ITO electrode have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The results showed that [Ru(bpy)3]2+ can mediate the oxidation. In the range from 0.01 to 0.15 mmol·L-1,peak currents for guanine oxidation mediated by [Ru(bpy)3]2+ increased with the rise of DHP concentrations. On the contrary, cationic surfactant HTAC has the ability to weaken the mediated oxidation of guanine. In addition, the oxidative mechanism of guanine mediated by [Ru(bpy)3]2+ with the participation of DHP is discussed.

A Pll-Based Multirate Structure For Time-Varying Power Systems Harmonic/ Interharmonic Estimation, Janison Rodrigues De Carvalho, Carlos A. Duque, Moisés V. Ribeiro, Augusto S. Cerqueira

University Faculty Publications and Creative Works

This paper describes a phase-locked-loop (PLL)-based power systems harmonic estimation algorithm, which uses an analysis filter bank and multirate processing. The filter bank is composed of bandpass filters. The initial center frequency of each filter is purposely chosen to be equal to harmonic frequencies. However, an adaptation strategy makes it possible to track time-varying frequencies as well as interharmonic components. A downsampler device follows the filtering stage, reducing the computational burden, especially because undersampling operations are performed. Finally, the last stage is composed of a PLL estimator which provides estimates for amplitude, phase, and frequency of the input signal. The …
