Iron And Nickel Doped Cose2 As Efficient Non Precious Metal Catalysts For Oxygen Reduction, Beibei Yu, Jiayi Jin, Huimin Wu, Shengfu Wang, Qinghua Xia, Hua-Kun Liu

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Iron and nickel doped CoSe2 were prepared by solvothermal method, and they were proved to be ternary chalcogenides by series of physical characterization. The effects of the iron and nickel contents on the oxygen reduction reaction were investigated by electrochemical measurements, and the highest activities were obtained on Co0.7Fe0.3Se2 and Co0.7Ni0.3Se2, respectively. Both Co0.7Fe0.3Se2 and Co0.7Ni0.3Se2 presented four-electron pathway. Furthermore, Co0.7Fe0.3Se2 exhibited more positive cathodic peak potential (0.564 V) and onset potential (0.759 V) than these of Co0.7Ni0.3Se2 (0.558 V and 0.741 V). And Co0.7Fe0.3Se2 displayed even superior stability and better tolerance to methanol, ethanol and ethylene glycol crossover effects …

NiO nanopowders and NiO/nickel foam (NF) hybrid were synthesized by microwave hydrothermal method and the following heating process. NiO nanopowders show the morphology of microspheres (diameter is about 3μm), which are composed of porous nanoflakes. NiO/NF hybrid shows a porous nanoflakes array structure, the thickness of nanoflakes is 10nm. Electrochemical measurements indicate that the maximum specific capacitance of NiO nanopowders is about 85.4 F/g at a scan rate of 5 mV/s, while this value is up to 234.8 F/g for NiO/NF hybrid. Electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS) data show that the Rs and Rct values of NiO/NF hybrid (1.9Ù and 0.25Ù) …

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are considered as promising alternatives to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) for energy storage due to the abundance of sodium, especially for grid distribution systems. The practical implementation of SIBs, however, is severely hindered by their low energy density and poor cycling stability due to the poor electrochemical performance of the existing electrodes. Here, to achieve high-capacity and durable sodium storage with good rate capability, hierarchical hollow NiS spheres with porous shells composed of nanoparticles are designed and synthesized by tuning the reaction parameters. The formation mechanism of this unique structure is systematically investigated, which is clearly revealed to …

Electrically Conductive Coatings Of Nickel And Polypyrrole/Poly(2- Methoxyaniline-5-Sulfonic Acid) On Nylon Lycra® Textiles, B C. Kim, P C. Innis, Gordon G. Wallace, C T.J Low, F C. Walsh, W J. Cho, K H. Yu Jan 2013

Electrically Conductive Coatings Of Nickel And Polypyrrole/Poly(2- Methoxyaniline-5-Sulfonic Acid) On Nylon Lycra® Textiles, B C. Kim, P C. Innis, Gordon G. Wallace, C T.J Low, F C. Walsh, W J. Cho, K H. Yu

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Woven nylon Lycra® has been coated with finely-divided electroless nickel-phosphorus, polypyrrole and electroless nickel/polypyrrole to produce flexible and electrically conductive textiles. The coated textiles were tested for their electrochemical activity, electrical resistivity and resistivity in response to mechanical strain. Pre-dyeing the textile with poly(2-methoxyaniline-5-sulfonic acid) (PMAS) prior to electroless metallization by electroless nickel and via chemical polymerization of polypyrrole was found to be beneficial in enhancing the resultant coating as well as stabilizing surface resistance responses when exposed to a wide range of strain. The mass gain due to the nickel coating was found to increase linearly with deposition time. …

The Effects Of Fec (Fluoroethylene Carbonate) Electrolyte Additive On The Lithium Storage Properties Of Nio (Nickel Oxide) Nanocuboids, Kuok H. Seng, Li Li, Dapeng Chen, Zhixin Chen, Xiaolin Wang, Hua-Kun Liu, Zaiping Guo Jan 2013

The Effects Of Fec (Fluoroethylene Carbonate) Electrolyte Additive On The Lithium Storage Properties Of Nio (Nickel Oxide) Nanocuboids, Kuok H. Seng, Li Li, Dapeng Chen, Zhixin Chen, Xiaolin Wang, Hua-Kun Liu, Zaiping Guo

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Nanocuboid shaped NiO (nickel oxide) has been synthesized using an optical floating zone furnace. It was found that the nanocuboids exhibit single crystalline nature, and have clean and sharp edges. Furthermore, the NiO nanocuboids were tested for their electrochemical performances as anode material for LIBs (lithium-ion batteries) in a coin-type half cell. The effects of FEC (fluoroethylene carbonate) additive on the lithium storage performance were also investigated, which is the first of such studies for transition metal oxides. It was found that FEC has a positive effect on the cycling stability and also improves the rate performances of the nanocuboids. …
