Static Vascular Modeling Of Diabetes Progression, Andrea Skattenborg
Static Vascular Modeling Of Diabetes Progression, Andrea Skattenborg
Master's Theses
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality in diabetic patients, and diabetes is one of the main causes of cardiovascular disease. Risk factors for cardiovascular disease result in structural and functional changes in the vascular wall. Arterial stiffness is a prominent structural change observed in the arterial wall that can be measured in clinical settings. The purpose of this thesis was to create a static model of the changes in arterial stiffness seen in diabetes. Elastic tubes with varying wall thicknesses were used to create artificial arteries for this purpose. Compliance (inverse of stiffness) of the arteries was determined …
Glucose Biosensor Using Electrospun Mn2o3-Ag Nanofibers, Shan Huang
Glucose Biosensor Using Electrospun Mn2o3-Ag Nanofibers, Shan Huang
Master's Theses
The highly porous Mn2O3-Ag nanofibers were fabricated by a facile two-step procedure (electrospinning and calcination) and then employed as the immobilization matrix for glucose oxidase (GOD) to construct an amperometric glucose biosensor. A notable enhancement of direct electron transfer between GOD and the electrode is observed at the Mn2O3-Ag-GOD modified electrode with a fast electron transfer rate constant. The biosensor also shows fast response to glucose, high sensitivity (40.60 μA×mM-1×cm-2), low detection limit (1.73 µM at S/N=3), low Km,app value and excellent selectivity. These results indicate that …
