Scholarly research on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the decision sciences is largely concentrated in areas of management and organization design. However, DEI is relevant to other domains of inquiry, and can be understood in terms other than economic efficiency and organization effectiveness. I discuss what a research agenda in decision sciences would look like if DEI, and a focus on social costs and benefits and social justice were central to this work. Examples to be discussed include: the new economy, climate resilience and disaster response, and human services.

Scenario Computing For Analysis Of Deep Uncertainty Systems, Liu Yi, Gangqiao Wang, Zhipeng Wu, Zhenqiang Fan, Yongqiang Chen

Abstract: A method of scenario computing is developed for modeling systems with deep uncertainty. The method consists three complementary parts: hybrid modelling, diverse computing, and interactive validation. Hybrid modelling is to dynamically develop models with merging historical knowledges and observed information. Diversity computation is to simulate multiple plausible scenarios about system future. Interactive validation helps scenario computing process being on the right way instead of deviating. Two cases are provided in this paper applying scenario computing, one is earthquake and the other is driving and transportation. The results show good performance of scenario computing method in modeling uncertainty systems.

Although organizations have addressed diversity issues at the organizational-level with resulting positive employee outcomes, lack of scholarly attention to team-level interventions remain. Team-level interventions would benefit organizations more directly as they address issues directly related to task accomplishment. What do community interpreting for the Deaf in western societies, conference interpreting for the European Parliament, and language brokering in international management have in common? Academic research and professional training have historically emphasized the linguistic and cognitive challenges of interpreting, neglecting or ignoring the social aspects that structure communication. All forms of interpreting are inherently social; they involve relationships among at least three people and two languages. The contexts explored here, American Sign Language/English interpreting and spoken language interpreting within the European Parliament, show that simultaneous interpreting involves attitudes, norms and values about intercultural communication that overemphasize information and discount …
