An Investigation In Treating A Gold Ore From Custer, South Dakota, Theodore Saunders Dunn
An Investigation In Treating A Gold Ore From Custer, South Dakota, Theodore Saunders Dunn
Professional Degree Theses
"The following investigation was undertaken to determine the adaptibility [sic] to amalgamation and cyanidation of a certain ore from the property of Mr. Charles Bush near Custer, South Dakota. A preliminary sample of the ore was obtained and laboratory tests made upon it. A ton lot of the ore was then put through the ore dressing laboratory at the South Dakota School of Mines. Upon examination the large sample was found to differ in value and to some extent in character from the preliminary sample, but the scheme of treatment worked out for the first sample was found to work …
The Seneca-Superior Mine And Mill, Maurice Merton Albertson
The Seneca-Superior Mine And Mill, Maurice Merton Albertson
Professional Degree Theses
"The Seneca Superior Mine lies under Cart Lake which is located about a mile south of the city of Cobalt. It was discovered by crosscutting during the year 1912 and although it is one of the smaller properties of the Cobalt district it has been, and continues to be, a large producer"--Description of the Seneca Superior Mine, page 1.
The Method Of Mining And Milling At The Rosiclare Lead And Fluor Spar Mines, Arthur Harrison Cronk
The Method Of Mining And Milling At The Rosiclare Lead And Fluor Spar Mines, Arthur Harrison Cronk
Professional Degree Theses
"The American fluor spar mines of economic importance are located in the Southern part of Illinois and Western Kentucky. The largest mines are in Hardin County, Illinois, Those in Kentucky are in Crittenden, Livingstone and Caldwell Counties. At the present time the Illinois mines are the largest producers. The two principal mining companies in operation are: The Rosiclare Lead & Fluor Spar Mines and the Fairview Fluorspar & Lead Mines. These mines are located about a half mile from Rosiclare which is on the Ohio River"--Location, page 1.
The Development Of A Process For The Treatment Of A Complex Ore, Charles Adrian Burdick
The Development Of A Process For The Treatment Of A Complex Ore, Charles Adrian Burdick
Professional Degree Theses
"The writer has carried out tests to determine the most feasible method of treating a complex ore from Tecolote, Sonoro [sic], Mexico. The ore contains gold, silver, copper and zinc"-- Introductory, page 1.
Engineering And Geological Work At Cananea, Mexico, Edward Dale Lynton
Engineering And Geological Work At Cananea, Mexico, Edward Dale Lynton
Professional Degree Theses
"The purpose of this thesis is to relate in as clear and concise a manner as possible the way "things are done" in practice as observed by myself during my two years' experience as sampler and assistant geologist to the Cananea Consolidated copper Co. of Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. My work took me to all the mines, and in this way I was able to accurately observe the sampling, system of mining, geology, etc. of this famous and important camp"--page 1.
A Study Of The Stoping Efficiency And Ore Transportation Of The Arizona Copper Company At Morenci, Arizona, Robert Stanley Burg
A Study Of The Stoping Efficiency And Ore Transportation Of The Arizona Copper Company At Morenci, Arizona, Robert Stanley Burg
Bachelors Theses
"The purpose of this paper is to give a description of the most important mining operations of the Arizona Copper Company at Morenci, Arizona, during the years 1911, 1912 and 1913. This work was planned in the engineering department by the mine superintendent, Mr. John Kiddie, while the author was employed in his office as chief mine surveyor from November 1911 to September 1913. As in other mining districts of the southwest, the rich contact and pocket, copper deposits in the Clifton-Morenci district have been nearly exhausted, necessitating the development and extraction of the low-grade porphyry deposits"--Introduction, Page 1.
Comparative Tests Of Piston-Drill Bits, Lister Merriken Cummings
Comparative Tests Of Piston-Drill Bits, Lister Merriken Cummings
Bachelors Theses
"The purpose of this investigation is to compare the relative cutting speeds and efficiency of some of the different types of rock drill bits used in the piston machine, including the regular cross bit, the low center cross bit, a so-called "flat" cross bit, the "Z" bit of the southeast Missouri type, and the Joplin "Bull" bit"--page 2.
An Efficiency Test Of A Laboratory Fan, Daniel Webster Blaylock, Edward Albrecht Schroer, Elton Arthur Miller
An Efficiency Test Of A Laboratory Fan, Daniel Webster Blaylock, Edward Albrecht Schroer, Elton Arthur Miller
Bachelors Theses
"The principal object of these tests is to determine the efficiency of the fan when working against the different sized orifices at various speeds and pressures. Before this could be accomplished, the coefficients of discharge of the 18 in., 24 in., and 30 in. orifices had to be determined"--Object of Tests, page 4.
Effect Of Compression And Transmission On The Illuminating And Heating Value Of Carburetted Water-Gas, Horace Herbert Clark
Effect Of Compression And Transmission On The Illuminating And Heating Value Of Carburetted Water-Gas, Horace Herbert Clark
Bachelors Theses
"The object of this series of tests was to determine the effect of compression upon the candle power of carburetted water gas, as made in the daily operation of a three piece water gas machine, cooled in condensers, passed through shavings, scrubbers and oxide material, and thence into a storage holder, ready for compression and distribution. The apparatus consisted of a small Westinghouse air compressor; nine storage tanks of six inch wrought iron pipe; transfer pump; pressure regulator; standard one hundred inch bar photometer, complete, with regulators, clock, meter, pentane lamp, etc., gas analysis outfit, complete; also gages, thermometers, etc."--Page …
The Cyaniding Of A Mexican Silver Ore, Homer Marvon Wilson, Roy Watson Griffin
The Cyaniding Of A Mexican Silver Ore, Homer Marvon Wilson, Roy Watson Griffin
Bachelors Theses
"The purpose of this thesis is to determine whether or not a certain Mexican silver ore is amenable to cyanidation"--Purpose, page 1.
The Relation Of The Composition Of Petroleum To Its Origin And Occurrence, John Warder Shotwell
The Relation Of The Composition Of Petroleum To Its Origin And Occurrence, John Warder Shotwell
Bachelors Theses
"Petroleum Is a mixture of hydrocarbons. It is a liquid varying from colorless, through yellow and brown to black. It varies from 1.0 to 0.80 in specific gravity, which corresponds to 10° to 45° Beaume. It varies widely in physical properties, such as viscosity, ignition point, polarization of light, etc. Chemically it is composed essentially of carbon and hydrogen, but usually contains impurities such as sulphur and nitrogen. The carbon and hydrogen combine with each other to form certain series, or "chains"--Chemical and Physical Nature, page 1.
Geological Mapping Of An Area Along The Frisco Railroad Between Cuba And Saint James, Willard Miles Benham, William Elliott
Geological Mapping Of An Area Along The Frisco Railroad Between Cuba And Saint James, Willard Miles Benham, William Elliott
Bachelors Theses
"The chief object of the work has been the location of the Roubidoux-Jefferson City contact, if it occurred within a mile of the railroad. Distances and positions along the track were obtained by the use of a map and by counting telephone poles. Other locations were made by obtaining their bearing and distance from these points by the use of a compass and by pacing. Elevations were carried by aneroid barometers, using the railroad elevations at mile points as bench marks. An attempt has been made to locate all important outcrops; but these are shown only on the field map. …
