Design And Experimental Study Of A High Pressure And Supercritical Methane-Oxygen Burner, A S M Arifur Rahim Chowdhury

Directly heated supercritical oxy-fuel power cycles have potential to offer a higher thermal efficiency and lower pollutant emissions compared to existing power cycles. Recent thermodynamic analysis of the cycle performed by several groups including the UTEP-Air Liquide research team show that combustion in the vicinity of 300 bar pressure and 1000-1400 K temperature allows for relatively high system efficiencies while operating within the limit of practical combustor materials. However, the realization of directly heated supercritical power cycle requires combustion systems be designed to operate in supercritical conditions and at temperature far below the blowout limit of conventional flames (above 1500 …
Design And Development Of A High Pressure Oxy-Methane Combustor, Jaime Cruz Gurrola
Design And Development Of A High Pressure Oxy-Methane Combustor, Jaime Cruz Gurrola
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
Most of the greenhouse gas emissions in the US comes from the electricity sector by burning fossil fuels. Environmental regulations have been implemented to reduce the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. One method to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere is oxy-fuel technology. One of the biggest challenges of oxy-fuel combustion is thermal management due to the elevated temperature combustion. The main objective of this Thesis was to design and develop a steady-state high pressure combustor that uses oxygen and methane with a thermal power input of 500 kW and operation at 20 bar pressure. An …
Experimental And Numerical Investigation Of The Effect Of Fuel Composition On Flame Stability On A Gas Turbine Combustor, Gilberto Corona
Experimental And Numerical Investigation Of The Effect Of Fuel Composition On Flame Stability On A Gas Turbine Combustor, Gilberto Corona
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
Gas turbines are used for power generation and aviation all over the world. Fossil fuels remain the main source of energy for the operation of gas turbines but the recent increase in environmental awareness has influenced government agencies to impose stringent limits on pollutant emissions from power generation plants. Pollutant emissions control is one of the major challenges for gas turbine designers. In this study, experimental methods and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technologies are used to study the problems that arise when coal derived fuels are used in Gas Turbine Combustors.
Gas turbine designers need both experimental data and combustion …
