Preparation Of Pt Nanoflower/Zno Composites Arrays And Their Electrocatalysis For Methanol Oxidation, Li Gao, Yi-Feng E, Lou-Zhen Fan

Journal of Electrochemistry

The Pt nanoflower/ZnO(PtNF/ZnO) nanorod composites arrays were electrochemically prepared by controlling the hydrophobicity and the hydrophilicity of ZnO nanorods arrays. The Pt nanoflowers grew on the tip of ZnO nanorods, which maintain the vertical array of Zno nanorods with a high degree of size uniformity and high surface area.Compared with Pt nanoparticle covered ZnO nanorod arrays, which were prepared by controlling the hydrophilicities of ZnO nanorods and Pt nanoparticles, the PtNF/ZnO displayed highest electrocatalytic activities for the oxidation of methanol.

Electrodeposition Of Nanocrystalline Ni-Based Alloys, Hanseung Park Aug 2009

Electrodeposition Of Nanocrystalline Ni-Based Alloys, Hanseung Park

All Theses

Nanocrystalline materials can often process superior properties, but they are generally unstable against grain growth. Addition of a dopant can stabilize nanocrystalline alloys by decreasing the excess grain boundary energy as the thermodynamic driving force for grain growth and reducing grain boundary mobility via a kinetic effect of solute drag. In this thesis study, eight Ni-based alloys (Ni-W, Ni-P, Ni-Mo, Ni-Cu, Ni-B, Ni-Mg, Ni-Zn and Ni-Co) and pure Ni were made using an electrodeposition method. It is concluded that the use of different dopant can drastically affect the deposition mechanism as well as the morphology of resultant films. Ni-W and …

Electrodeposition Of Al On Magnesium Alloy In Ionic Liquid, Tsai Wen-Ta, Shu-You Chen, Mu-Huan Zhuang, Chang Jeng-Kuei, Yi-Wen Sun

Journal of Electrochemistry

Electrodeposition of a metallic aluminum on a magnesium alloy in acidic aluminum chloride-1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquids(AlCl3-EMIC) was investigated. The effects of current density and AlCl3 content in the ionic liquid on the electrodeposition behavior were studied. The results showed that aluminum could be successfully electrodeposited on the AZ91D substrate.At-0.2 V,the ionic liquid containing 60 m/o AlCl3 was optimum for Al electrodeposition. The current efficiency was higher if electrodeposition was performed at a lower applied current density. The existence of Al coating could caused a substantial increase in open circuit potential, reducing the susceptibility of Mg alloy to corrosion. The results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that …
