Optimizing The Mechanical Properties Of Partially Yttria Stabilized Zirconia With Alumina Additions, Ramanaganapathy Kandaswamy

All Theses

Zirconia is one of the extensively studied solid oxide ceramics with respect to its use in various industrial applications like electrolyte in fuel cells, sensors, refractories and exhaust chamber in automobile industry. It can be found from the literature 1-4 that are contradictory results on the mechanical properties when alumina is added. There are several factors like microstructure, phase composition and method of processing that affects the mechanical properties of the material. The focus of this research is to examine how hardness, tensile strength and other properties varies with alumina content and deduce the optimal amount of alumina that is …

A New Multilayer Composite With Functionally Graded Design For Endodontic Application., Ahmed A. Madfa Jul 2010

A New Multilayer Composite With Functionally Graded Design For Endodontic Application., Ahmed A. Madfa

Ahmed A. Madfa

Multilayer composite with FG structure were fabricated using zirconia (ZrO), alumina (AI2O3), Hydroxyapatite (HA) and titanium (Ti) micropowders. Powder selection and their combination in each layer were according to the results of finite element analysis.

Microstructural Characteristics Of Functionally Graded Materials Designed As Dental Post, Ahmed A. Madfa Feb 2010

Microstructural Characteristics Of Functionally Graded Materials Designed As Dental Post, Ahmed A. Madfa

Ahmed A. Madfa

To study the interfaces and microstructure of multilayered materials fabricated based on functionally graded concept for use as dental posts.

Porosity Reduction Model In Functionally Graded Metal-Ceramic Composites Using Shrinkage Measurement, Ahmed Madfa Jan 2010

Porosity Reduction Model In Functionally Graded Metal-Ceramic Composites Using Shrinkage Measurement, Ahmed Madfa

Ahmed A. Madfa

Porosity of metal-ceramic functionally graded materials (FGMs) was investigated experimentally to verify its mathematical models.
