Surface Treatments' Effects On The Capacitor's Dielectric Performance Under Electro-Thermal Stresses, Haider. M. Umran, Feipeng Wang

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

Biaxial-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films are characterized by unfavorable aging behavior because of their poor susceptibility to high temperatures, humidity, and high electric fields. This makes them unqualified to withstand harsh operating conditions, such as in capacitor applications. This study investigates the impact of annealing BOPP samples at 100 °C for five hours after fluorination at different times (15, 30, and 60 minutes) on their electrical and mechanical performance under electro-thermal stresses. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images confirm that there is an increase in surface roughness and the formation of a dense layer of fluorine-containing groups monotonically with fluorination time. So, …

Combining various types of ferrites brings about magnetic properties desirable for different applications. This study aims to modify barium hexaferrite (BaFe12O19) by physically mixing it with cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4). BaFe12O19/CoFe2O4 magnets were produced by ball-milling and pressing sol-gel-derived ferrite powders. The ferrite composites showed variations in magnetic properties from BaFe12O19 magnets with a saturation magnetization of 69.46 emu/g and a maximum energy product of 0.4529 MGOe. For the BaFe12O19:CoFe2O4 weight ratio of 4:1, both satura-tion …

The aims of this study were to characterize the urea-loaded chitosan microspheres and determine the release kinetic constants and diffusion coefficients. An emulsion cross-linking method was used to prepare the urea-loaded chitosan microspheres. Urea was dissolved in a solution of chitosan then put into vegetable oil and stirred to form an emulsion. Glutaraldehyde saturated toluene (GST) was added into the emulsion dropwise while continuously stirring for the solidification process. Chitosan microspheres filled with urea were washed, dried, and then analyzed. Characterization of the urea-loaded chitosan microspheres was conducted using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and particle …

The objective of this study is to produce nanocellulose sheets from oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFBs). Nanocellulose sheets from OPEFBs were prepared through the dewatering process using vacuum filtration. Subsequently, the produced sheets were treated with NaOH solution to improve the mechanical stability of their structure, causing them to be firm in water. The water absorption of nanocellulose sheet increased with increasing NaOH concentrations up to 20 wt%, increasing tensile strength, and Young’s modulus, but decreased when they were treated with 30 wt%. The diameter shrinkage of nanocellulose sheets was directly proportional to the NaOH concentration and soaking time. …

Dynamic Analysis Of Viscoelastic Circular Diaphragm Of A Mems Capacitive Pressure Sensor Using Modified Differential Transformation Method, Dr Olurotimi A. Adeleye, Muritala Yusuf, Oluwaseyi .. Balogun Oct 2020

Dynamic Analysis Of Viscoelastic Circular Diaphragm Of A Mems Capacitive Pressure Sensor Using Modified Differential Transformation Method, Dr Olurotimi A. Adeleye, Muritala Yusuf, Oluwaseyi .. Balogun

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

In this paper, a dynamic analysis of the viscoelastic circular diaphragm of a Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) capacitive pressure sensor using the Modified Differential Transformation Method (MDTM) is presented. The MEMS technology has been increasingly used to fabricate sensors and actuators and the MEMS capacitive pressure sensor is emerging in many high-performance applications. The deflection of these sensors diaphragm (plate) depends largely on the material of the diaphragm. In this study, a circular diaphragm of viscoelastic material is modeled using the classical plate theory. The governing differential equation is solved using Modified Differential Transformation Method (MDTM) and the result is validated …

Preparation Of Glass Ionomer Cement From Recycled Low Alumina Glass, Sura S. Al-Tae'e, Ola M. Almitwalli, Saad B. H. Farid

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

Fluoroaluminosilicate glass was prepared from recycled low alumina glass, with the additions of AlF3 and CaF. That was to provide a cheap source of proper glass required to prepare glass ionomer cement GIC. Three batches of the fluoroaluminosilicate glass were prepared with different additions of CaF varied at the expense of AlF3. i.e., the glass was prepared with three different CaO contents. The prepared glasses were used as an essential part of GICs. It was found that a crystalline phase (fluorapatite) appeared as part of the set cement matrix. The XRD of the set cements indicated that …

Effect Of Incorporating Pottery And Bottom Ash As Partial Replacement Of Cement, Bassam A. Tayeh, Doha M. Alsaffar, Lawend K. Askar, Asmahan Issa Jubeh

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

This study addressed the environmental constraints in cement production. Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was replaced with pottery powder (PP, produced by grinding locally available pottery) and bottom ash (BA) at 10%, 20% and 30% of cement mass. Moreover, 4% calcium chloride solution (CaCl2.2H2O) was used as mixing water. Material properties, such as standard consistency, setting time and compressive strength, were measured with different percentages of OPC replacement with PP and BA. Results indicated that the replacement with PP and BA increased the water demand to achieve the standard consistency. These results revealed that the strength evolution …
