"As a general proposition, the conditions that favor successful amalgamation, and the factors that work against the success of the operation are reasonably well known. We know that if mercury contains certain impurities it will not pick up gold and silver efficiently. We know that if the gold and silver are not in proper condition the mercury will not work as it should. We also know what some of these impurities are, and have some idea as to what condition the gold and silver should be in, but the exact data on these conditions and their effects are lacking. The …
