"As a general proposition, the conditions that favor successful amalgamation, and the factors that work against the success of the operation are reasonably well known. We know that if mercury contains certain impurities it will not pick up gold and silver efficiently. We know that if the gold and silver are not in proper condition the mercury will not work as it should.
