Investigations In Electrochemical Thermodynamic And Kinetic Properties Of As-Cast And As-Quenched Cemg10Ni2 Hydrogen Storage Alloys, Feng Hu, Li-Rong Luo, Yong-Zhi Li, Ting-Ting Zhai, Xin Zhao, Yang-Huan Zhang

Journal of Electrochemistry

In order to improve the electrochemical hydrogen storage properties of CeMg10Ni2 alloy, the rapid quenching technology was used to prepare CeMg10Ni2 alloys with nano-crystalline and amorphous structure. The microstructures of as-cast and as-spinning sample were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The electrochemical hydrogen storage properties were investigated by an automatic galvanostatic charging/discharging, high rate discharging (HRD), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization techniques. The results revealed that the as-cast alloy was composed of multiphase structures. The as-quenched alloys were made up of nano-crystalline and/or amorphous structures, and the …

Acid Treated Carbon As Anodic Electrocatalysts Toward Direct Ascorbic Acid Alkaline Membrane Fuel Cells, He-Mu Chen, Chen-Xi Qiu, Yuan-Yuan Cong, Hui-Yuan Liu, Zi-Hui Zhai, Yu-Jiang Song

In order to improve the hydrophilicity and electrocatalytic activity, commercial carbon black (BP 2000) was subjected to acid treatment to obtain acid-treated carbon (ATC). The generation of rich oxygen-containing groups on the surface of the ATC was proved by X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), Fourier transform-infra red spectra (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and contact angle measurement. UV-vis spectra were firstly recorded to calculate activation energy (Ea) of ascorbic acid (AA) chemical oxidation in alkaline conditions by oxygen in air and the Ea value was determined to be 37.1 kJ·mol-1. Additionally, electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) were used to evaluate unprecedented …

A Comparative Study Of Ce3+/Ce4+ Redox Couple On Pt Electrode In Sulfuric Acid And Methanesulfonic Acid, Zhao-Hua Li, You-Qun Chu, Chun-An Ma

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical oxidations of Ce3+ to Ce4+ on Pt rotating disk electrode (RDE) in both sulfuric acid and methanesulfonic acid (MSA) solutions were studied by using cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry. The complexing behaviors of Ce3+/Ce4+ were preliminarily probed and the exchange current density, diffusion coefficient, as well as reaction rate constant were obtained from Butler-Volmer equation. The activation energies of Ce3+ oxidation on Pt electrode in two types of acidic media, obtained from Arrhenius equation, were also compared. The results indicate that Ce3+ can be oxidized to Ce4+ much easier in …
