Maintenance Service Request Process Optimization For The Cliffs Resort At Shell Beach, John Birch Jun 2010

Maintenance Service Request Process Optimization For The Cliffs Resort At Shell Beach, John Birch

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

This process optimization project utilizes a new idea to have an Access 2007 database automatically send a text message to a given cellular telephone. The hotel’s maintenance service request process is outdated and inefficient, relying solely on paper and human memory for success. Initiation, tracking, and recording the maintenance service requests need to be automated to optimize this process. The solution is a working database which employs said automation using Access 2007 in combination with a separate program created to facilitate the automatic text messaging. Implementing this database will result in higher customer satisfaction for the hotel.

'Transfer Effect Study Of A Virtual Borescope In Training Aircraft Maintenance Technicians', Melissa Dorlette Paul

All Theses

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has acknowledged training as an important tactic to improve the trustworthiness of inspection. This study was conducted to test the transfer of the skills learned with a simulator into the real world. For this purpose, data from seventeen students in the AMT program of Greenville Technical College was analyzed. Objective data was taken to assess the group's performance on the simulator after each session of training. The comparison between two groups was made using objective data, collected while the subjects went through a test on a real engine and using the real borescope, and subjective …

Every component, equipment or system will eventually fail. All failures produce a maintenance cost and, repair costs are especially hard to estimate ahead of time. Research shows that maintenance costs are the most substantial costs of development and use of equipment, reason why the cost of the product or equipment through its life is a major concern. Therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to provide a new optimization model to determine the minimum cost maintenance policy for complex systems.
