Prediction Of Flood Hydrograph In Small River Catchments Using System Modelling Approach, Ahmed Nasr, Zeinab Bedri, Loreta Ramanauske Aug 2018

Prediction Of Flood Hydrograph In Small River Catchments Using System Modelling Approach, Ahmed Nasr, Zeinab Bedri, Loreta Ramanauske

Conference papers

Floods remain to be one of the natural catastrophic disasters with serious adverse social and economic implications on individuals and communities all around the world. In Ireland, frequency of flood events have increased dramatically during the last forty years and is expected to continue to rise primarily due to changes in rainfall and temperature patterns as a result of the global climate change. Small river catchments are usually vulnerable to different types of flooding particularly those associated with “monster” rainfall events, which are characterised by short durations and high intensities. Therefore accurate prediction of flood hydrographs resulting from these rainfall …

Hydro-Climatological Summer Trends In The Continental United States, Naya Mairena Flores Jan 2018

Hydro-Climatological Summer Trends In The Continental United States, Naya Mairena Flores

REU Final Reports

We investigated trends in air temperature, stream temperature and discharge for rivers across the continental United States from the summer months of 1996 to 2016. Using GAGES II from USGS and PRISM and programming language R we analyzed specific hydrological trends in Mann-Kendall’s tests. After collecting the slope values whether they were negative or positive and the P-Values, the significance of that slope, we mapped slopes of trends in GIS. Stream temperature increased 12% of stations across the summer, while air temperature increased 22% of stations, and discharge decreased 15% of stations, respectively. Seven day moving average of daily maximum …

Evaluación De Las Capacidades De Una Plataforma Sig Para El Modelamiento De La Escorrentía En Zonas Urbanas Frente A La Implementación De Sistemas Urbanos De Drenaje Sostenible, Carlos Andres Pineda Naranjo Jan 2018

Evaluación De Las Capacidades De Una Plataforma Sig Para El Modelamiento De La Escorrentía En Zonas Urbanas Frente A La Implementación De Sistemas Urbanos De Drenaje Sostenible, Carlos Andres Pineda Naranjo

Comparison Of Three Regionalization Techniques For Predicting Streamflow In Ungaged Watersheds In Nebraska, Usa Using Swat Model, Michael W. Van Liew, Aaron R. Mittelstet Jan 2018

Comparison Of Three Regionalization Techniques For Predicting Streamflow In Ungaged Watersheds In Nebraska, Usa Using Swat Model, Michael W. Van Liew, Aaron R. Mittelstet

Biological Systems Engineering: Papers and Publications

This study compared three approaches, regional averaging, nearest neighbor, and donor techniques, to regionalize parameters in the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) on eleven watersheds located in the Dissected Plains, Plains, and Rolling Hills Landforms in the eastern portion of the State of Nebraska, USA. Within the Rolling Hills Landform, three watersheds were randomly selected as calibration watersheds while two were randomly selected as validation watersheds. Two watersheds were randomly selected as calibration watersheds while one was randomly selected as a validation watershed within each of the Dissected Plains and Plains Landforms. The seven calibration watersheds were used to …
