Wpływ Instalacji Termicznego Przekształcania Odpadów Komunalnych Na Jakość Powietrza, Robert Oleniacz

At the turn of 2015/2016 it is planned to launch in Poland a few new municipal solid waste incineration plants. This type activities causes usually concerns of the local community due to their potential negative impact on air quality. Are these fears are, however, justified? The article describes allowable air emissions for new waste incinerators, the actual emissions that occur from such installations, and the current state of knowledge about their impact on air pollution.English title: The impact of installations of municipal solid waste thermal treatment on air quality.

The paper presents the results of air quality impact assessment carried out for the Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Plant in Warsaw. As part of the plant is working so far the only municipal solid waste incinerator in Poland. Following the evaluation, including data for the year 2008, it was found that it is a minor source of emissions to air and causes a slight air pollution. The highest maximum one-hour and annual average concentrations caused at ground level are many times lower than the respective reference (or permissible) values and background values for analyzed substances in the air. Increasing the …

The paper presents the results of research related to the modeling of physicochemical phenomena occurring in the ground layer of the atmosphere in terms of ozone formation. For this purpose, the box model was used, in which the computational area is defined as a space designated by a steady surface and a variable height. Conducted in Nowy Sącz (Poland) experiment confirmed the possibility of using this type of model to diagnose and possibly forecasting ozone concentrations in any area of calculation. The study also showed that the quality of the results depends mainly on accuracy in preparing of input data, …

Road transport is an essential source of nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and reactive hydrocarbons (RHC) emissions to atmosphere. Quantity and chemical constitution of emitted substances and meteorological conditions determine the level of ozon (O3) concentration forming as a result of photochemical reactions. The method presented in the paper consists in designation of quantity and chemical constitution of substances emitted from mo-bile sources and special mathematical modeling of physical and chemical transformations that take place in the lowest atmospheric layer.

English title: The use of box model to estimate the size of traffic pollutant concentrations in the lowest atmospheric …

The paper presents an approach for assessing the impact of road transport on the level of ozone concentrations in the ground layer of the atmosphere. The developed method consists in emission inventory on the analyzed area for road transport and calculations using the model of chemical reactions in the troposphere.

Using this method it is possible to display waveforms daily ozone concentrations in the air, and evaluate the effectiveness of the decisions related to the prevention of occurrence of photochemical smog in urban and industrial agglomerations.
