Efficient Use Of Water Resources In The Basins Of Small Rivers, F. Gapparov, M.F. Gafforova Dec 2021

Efficient Use Of Water Resources In The Basins Of Small Rivers, F. Gapparov, M.F. Gafforova

Irrigation and Melioration

The article provides a recommendation for the efficient use of water resources in the basins of small foothill rivers. The research was carried out on the example of the Govasay river basin located in the northern part of the Fergana Valley. The efficiency factor of the canal has been determined and a technical assessment has been given for the management of water resources in the river basin; the efficiency of the canal is 65-75%. A program for the operational management of water resources in The Govasay river basin and a GIS map of water consumers in the Govasay river basin …

Assessment Of The Impact Of Climate Change On Hydrological Processes In The Chirchik River Basin, В.K. Saliev Mar 2021

Assessment Of The Impact Of Climate Change On Hydrological Processes In The Chirchik River Basin, В.K. Saliev

Irrigation and Melioration

The article examines the assessment of the state and problems of irrigation water use in the republic in the past and in the near future. A comparative analysis of the state of water resources use for the period of the last 30 years from 1989 to 2019 was carried out.According to the estimates, own water withdrawal for 5 years (2014/15-2018/19) shows that an average of 53.2 m3, including 50.5 billion m3 from rivers At present (2018-2019), an average of 57.06 billion m3 of water is taken for irrigation of 4.289 million hectares of land, against 63.02 billion m3 approved in …

Inadequacy Of Current Water Use Planning At The Level Of Water Users And Wuas, A.A. Alimdjanov, A.Kh. Karimov, B.R. Nasibov Dec 2020

Inadequacy Of Current Water Use Planning At The Level Of Water Users And Wuas, A.A. Alimdjanov, A.Kh. Karimov, B.R. Nasibov

Irrigation and Melioration

This paper studies the main issues of water use planning at the level of water consumers and water user associations (WUA). The study carried out in Bulakbashi district of Andijan province of Uzbekistan, where the main source of irrigation water is the Southern Fergana Main Canal. The study followed two-stage procedure. During the first stage we compiled water use plans for the WUA and water consumers based on the applied methodology of water use planning. Then, at the second stage, we analyzed the results of the actual implementation of the farm water consumption plans and WUA water use plan, and …

Increasing The Efficiency Of Water Distribution Management When Operating Pumping Stations Of The Irrigation System, O.Y. Glovatsky, R.R. Ergashev, B. Hamdamov, N.M. Ismailov, B.T. Kholbutaev Oct 2020

Increasing The Efficiency Of Water Distribution Management When Operating Pumping Stations Of The Irrigation System, O.Y. Glovatsky, R.R. Ergashev, B. Hamdamov, N.M. Ismailov, B.T. Kholbutaev

Irrigation and Melioration

The article is to control the parameters of the unsteady movement of water in the canals and the pumping station, which ensure the maintenance of the specified operating modes of the pumping stations under non-stationary conditions. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve the problems of coordinating the operating modes of the units of the head pumping station (PS) with the operating modes of the partitioning structures in the conditions of emptying and filling the ponds of the main canal with water. The article discusses the implementation of the method of water distribution control on the mathematical model …

Modeling The Effects Of Distribution System Topology On Water Quality, Chun-Ying Chao Dec 2019

Modeling The Effects Of Distribution System Topology On Water Quality, Chun-Ying Chao

McKelvey School of Engineering Theses & Dissertations

Inadequate treatment of drinking water causes the formation of disinfection by-products and the regrowth of harmful microbial species. Various studies have addressed the problem of water quality monitoring, but very few have employed topological analysis, a valuable mathematical tool widely applied in biological, business, and social research. This thesis examines the relationship between the topological properties of water distribution systems and water-quality models. In particular, the research proposes a novel framework for mapping network topological attributes to water-quality models. This research adopts topological metrics to assess the accuracy of the predictions of chlorine concentrations in dead ends. It examines four …

Operational And Water Quality Analysis For The City Of Akron's Water Treatment Plant And Distribution System, Chelsea James Jan 2016

Operational And Water Quality Analysis For The City Of Akron's Water Treatment Plant And Distribution System, Chelsea James

Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects

Chlorination is one of the most common methods of treating pathogens and ensuring microbial water quality in water treatment and distribution. As chlorinated water leaves the source and travels through the water distribution system, the chlorine reacts with both the organic compounds (dissolved organic carbon, DOC) in the source water and the corrosion or biofilm of the pipe walls. The chlorine concentration, or chlorine residuals, at any point in the water distribution system is a good measure of water quality. At the same time, chlorination produces disinfection byproducts as the chlorine also reacts with other naturally-occurring materials in the water. …

Reversion Of Poly-Phosphates To Ortho-Phosphates In Water Distribution Systems, Avinash Shekhar Jan 2007

Reversion Of Poly-Phosphates To Ortho-Phosphates In Water Distribution Systems, Avinash Shekhar

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Orthophosphates and polyphosphates are rarely present at significant levels in raw water source but are purposefully added to the water in various forms to inhibit corrosion, iron oxidation (red water), or calcium carbonate precipitation (scale formation). Orthophosphates serve as building blocks for polyphosphates, which includes structures in linear chain, branched chains (metaphosphate) and "glassy" polyphosphate polymers. The advantage of polyphosphates over ortho phosphates lies in the fact that they slowly revert to orthophosphates and thus provide corrosion inhibition action over longer period of time in distribution systems. A study was completed for Tampa Bay Water on water distribution systems in …

Mass Transfer Reactions And Decay Sinks For Disinfectants In Water Distribution Systems, Jeremy B. Jones Jan 2002

Mass Transfer Reactions And Decay Sinks For Disinfectants In Water Distribution Systems, Jeremy B. Jones

Civil & Environmental Engineering Theses & Dissertations

Treatment plants utilize chlorine and chloramine both as a primary disinfectant for water purification and a secondary disinfectant for distribution system protection. The treatment goal is that the disinfectant residual be present throughout the distribution system until it reaches the customer's tap. Maintaining a residual throughout the system is critical for providing pathogen-free water and protecting human health. Therefore, water utility authorities are very interested in how disinfectants such as chlorine and chloramine decay as they travel through a water distribution system.

Current mathematical models typically divide the decay into two distinct phases. There is (1) decay occurring in the …
