In this paper, a Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) is used to investigate the effect of this device in controlling active and reactive powers as well as damping power system oscillations in transient mode. During the analyzing its found that the SSSC based power oscillation damping system cannot able to sustain the power oscillations neither alone nor with lead-leg POD controller, so this work proposes SSSC structure equipped with the neural network controller to efficiently sustain the power oscillations.
