Wireless Sensor Network Approach To Aeronautical Telemetry, Oluwasegun Babatunde Tinubi
Wireless Sensor Network Approach To Aeronautical Telemetry, Oluwasegun Babatunde Tinubi
Theses and Dissertations
Wireless sensor networks have become a rapidly growing research field in recent years. They are envisioned to have a wide range of applications in military, environmental and many other fields. We examine the performance of wireless sensor network applications to aeronautical telemetry. To date, test ranges have relied on a single telemetry ground station for the reception of packets from all air borne transmitters. We researched an alternate means of achieving this same goal with fewer resources. It is a well known fact that communication power and bandwidth are the most expensive commodities in wireless communications. The telemetry world is …
Wi-Fi Evapotranspiration Irrigation Controller, Ryan Goodman
Wi-Fi Evapotranspiration Irrigation Controller, Ryan Goodman
Electrical Engineering
This report discusses the applications of an Irrigation Controller with Wi-Fi connectivity, with focus on cost-effectiveness and usability. It addresses the amount to which traditional irrigation is wasteful, and proposes solutions to solve this problem. Methods for using online weather data resources to increase efficiency of residential landscaping are discussed in depth. Included is the procedural development of an irrigation controller using the Microchip Explorer 16 Development Board and TCP/IP Stack. Also discussed is web hosting and use of the scripting language PHP, and database MySQL. This project found inexpensive means for providing HTTP and FTP services. Results indicate an …
Cooperative Retransmission Protocols In Fading Channels : Issues, Solutions And Applications, Igor Stanojev
Cooperative Retransmission Protocols In Fading Channels : Issues, Solutions And Applications, Igor Stanojev
Dissertations
Future wireless systems are expected to extensively rely on cooperation between terminals, mimicking MIMO scenarios when terminal dimensions limit implementation of multiple antenna technology. On this line, cooperative retransmission protocols are considered as particularly promising technology due to their opportunistic and flexible exploitation of both spatial and time diversity. In this dissertation, some of the major issues that hinder the practical implementation of this technology are identified and pertaining solutions are proposed and analyzed. Potentials of cooperative and cooperative retransmission protocols for a practical implementation of dynamic spectrum access paradigm are also recognized and investigated. Detailed contributions follow.

Slow Complexity Wavelet Packet Compression Of Bayer Images For Communication Over Wireless Sensor Networks, Ivan Calzada
Slow Complexity Wavelet Packet Compression Of Bayer Images For Communication Over Wireless Sensor Networks, Ivan Calzada
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of this thesis was to develop a low complexity image compression algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The main constraints in a WSN node are limited processing power, memory allocation, and battery life. The goal of this thesis was to develop an image compression algorithm that would thrive under this constraint environment. The main focus was to minimize the complexity of the algorithm by taking advantage of the spatial correlation found in Bayer images. The algorithm employs line based 1-D Discrete Wavelet Packets Transform of Bayer images. In addition the image compression method includes the application of a …
