The power sector of developing countries is the backbone of the economy, and robust implementation of energy policies can play a significant role in its expansion. India is blessed to have ample natural resources; the only necessity is to identify these unseen resources comprehensively. India is an agricultural country with plenty of livestock generated biomass, which is renewable and easily accessible in rural India. The paper estimated the potential of electrical energy through biogas production from livestock generated dung in all states of India. Estimation of biogas from the gross livestock dung generation from all states and largely populated livestock …

Nowadays, distributed generation (DG) has made it possible to generate electricity close to the consumption site, resulting in improved efficiency, less environmental pollution, and higher economic profit. These advantages have led to increased penetration of DGs in the distribution system. Protective devices in a distribution system are set by considering the main substation as the only source for feeding short circuit current. However, with the increased influence of DGs as the second main source of short circuit current in distribution systems the short circuit level changes, which leads to false tripping of protective devices, including overcurrent relays. A sympathetic trip, …

This work proposes an intelligent allocation of distributed generation (DG) units and shunt reactive compensators (SRC) with high penetration capacities into distribution systems for power loss mitigation using the Bald Eagle Search (BES) optimization algorithm. The intelligent allocation causes a reduction in voltage variations and enhances the voltage stability of the systems. The SRC units include shunt capacitors (SC), Static Var Compensators (SVC), and Distribution Static Compensators (DSTATCOM), which are determined according to their capacities. The optimization study includes the 33-bus and the 118-bus distribution systems as medium to large systems. Performance parameters, including the reactive power loss, Total Voltage …
