Increase Faculty Awareness Through Personal Experiences In Active Stem Teaching And Learning At A Christian University, Aram Agajanian

Scholar Week 2016 - present

Jesus Christ taught through parables, examples, teamwork, repetitions, and questions, which are the foundations of active teaching and learning. The purpose of this presentation is to increase and invoke faculty involvement in active teaching for optimal student achievement. To emulate Jesus, educators should continually implement hands-on lab experiments; peer-to-peer, project-based, and brain-based teaching methods in their classes. Mentoring students includes providing help through office hours, teaching assistants, weekly homework and exam review sessions, and study groups. Relating to students through social occasions such as meals at the cafeteria; attending the student organizations and sports events, concerts, competitions are additional creative …

The VEX Robotics Competition is a challenging event series for elementary to university students. Each year, VEX creates thought provoking games with goals that must be accomplished via robotics. The question ONU Robotics Team must answer is “how can one create the most effective strategies in order to win?” during the 2019-2020 Tower Takeover Game. The ONU Robotics Senior Design Team (ORSeT) will work to answer this question with principles from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. ORSeT will use this opportunity to not only create a winning robot, but also to challenge team members’ creative abilities and engineering …

Olivet Nazarene University Telescope Vibration, Jake Butterfield, Kamil Michorczyk, Nathan Eckerle Apr 2020

Olivet Nazarene University Telescope Vibration, Jake Butterfield, Kamil Michorczyk, Nathan Eckerle

Scholar Week 2016 - present

Our project entails the use of vibration analysis to come up with a solution to the vibrational issues the ONU Telescope on top of Reed Hall of Science is currently experiencing. In its current state, the telescope produces images that are shaky and unclear; thus, rendering it useless for its intended research purposes. This shaky image is a result of excessive vibrations on and around the telescope. Within this project we diagnosed the source of the vibrations, brainstormed different design possibilities, chose the best one that is most feasible and meets the client’s needs, and proposed a detailed final design …
