Modeling Video Hyperlinks With Hypergraph For Web Video Reranking, Hung-Khoon Tan, Chong-Wah Ngo, Xiao Wu
Modeling Video Hyperlinks With Hypergraph For Web Video Reranking, Hung-Khoon Tan, Chong-Wah Ngo, Xiao Wu
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
In this paper, we investigate a novel approach of exploiting visual-duplicates for web video reranking using hypergraph. Current graph-based reranking approaches consider mainly the pair-wise linking of keyframes and ignore reliability issues that are inherent in such representation. We exploit higher order relation to overcome the issues of missing links in visual-duplicate keyframes and in addition identify the latent relationships among keyframes. Based on hypergraph, we consider two groups of video threads: visual near-duplicate threads and story threads, to hyperlink web videos and describe the higher order information existing in video content. To facilitate reranking using random walk algorithm, the …
Optimizing Dynamic Logic Realizations For Partial Reconfiguration Of Field Programmable Gate Arrays, Matthew Parris
Optimizing Dynamic Logic Realizations For Partial Reconfiguration Of Field Programmable Gate Arrays, Matthew Parris
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Many digital logic applications can take advantage of the reconfiguration capability of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to dynamically patch design flaws, recover from faults, or time-multiplex between functions. Partial reconfiguration is the process by which a user modifies one or more modules residing on the FPGA device independently of the others. Partial Reconfiguration reduces the granularity of reconfiguration to be a set of columns or rectangular region of the device. Decreasing the granularity of reconfiguration results in reduced configuration filesizes and, thus, reduced configuration times. When compared to one bitstream of a non-partial reconfiguration implementation, smaller modules resulting in …
Metadata And Data Management In High Performance File And Storage Systems, Peng Gu
Metadata And Data Management In High Performance File And Storage Systems, Peng Gu
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
With the advent of emerging "e-Science" applications, today's scientific research increasingly relies on petascale-and-beyond computing over large data sets of the same magnitude. While the computational power of supercomputers has recently entered the era of petascale, the performance of their storage system is far lagged behind by many orders of magnitude. This places an imperative demand on revolutionizing their underlying I/O systems, on which the management of both metadata and data is deemed to have significant performance implications. Prefetching/caching and data locality awareness optimizations, as conventional and effective management techniques for metadata and data I/O performance enhancement, still play their …

The application of directional antennas in wireless networks brings numerous benefits, such as increased spatial reuse and mitigated interferences. Most MAC protocols with directional antennas are based on the RTS/CTS mechanism which works well in wireless networks using omni-directional antennas. However, RTS/CTS frames cannot mitigate the interfering nodes completely. Besides, they also contribute a lot to the performance overhead. This paper studies the problem from a new perspective. We analyze the transmission success probability under directional transmission and directional reception when the antenna beamwidth is quite narrow. Motivated by the analytical results, we design a lightweight MAC protocol without RTS/CTS …

On The Capacity Of Multi-Channel Wireless Networks Using Directional Antennas, Hong-Ning Dai, Kam-Wing Ng, Raymond Chi-Wing Wong, Min-You Wu

The capacity of wireless ad hoc networks is affected by two key factors: the interference among concurrent transmissions and the number of simultaneous transmissions on a single interface. Recent studies found that using multiple channels can separate concurrent transmissions and greatly improve network throughput. However, those studies only consider that wireless nodes are equipped with only omnidirectional antennas, which cause high collisions. On the other hand, some researchers found that directional antennas bring more benefits such as reduced interference and increased spatial reuse compared with omnidirectional antennas. But, they only focused on a single-channel network which only allows finite concurrent …
