Multi Objective Flexible Load Scheduling In Smart Home Based On Grey Wolf Algorithm, Bao Yi, Dai Bo, Zhihua Wang, Wanliang Wang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: A three level electricity price model is designed based on the electricity consumption. A comfort model of multi parameters is designed for optimizing the grid load control of temperature and the humidity, light intensity and human activity. Grey wolf algorithm is used to solve the multi-objective problem. The grey wolf algorithm has its superiority in solving high dimensional and multi peak of complex function problems. Theoretical and experimental analysis shows that the grey wolf algorithm in accuracy and stability is better than particle swarm optimization algorithm and differential evolution algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can …

Analyzing Evolution Of Rare Events Through Social Media Data, Xiaoyu Lu Aug 2019

Analyzing Evolution Of Rare Events Through Social Media Data, Xiaoyu Lu

Dissertations

Recently, some researchers have attempted to find a relationship between the evolution of rare events and temporal-spatial patterns of social media activities. Their studies verify that the relationship exists in both time and spatial domains. However, few of those studies can accurately deduce a time point when social media activities are most highly affected by a rare event because producing an accurate temporal pattern of social media during the evolution of a rare event is very difficult. This work expands the current studies along three directions. Firstly, we focus on the intensity of information volume and propose an innovative clustering …

Anonymous And Efficient Message Authentication Scheme For Smart Grid, Libing Wu, Jing Wang, Sherali Zeadally, Debiao He May 2019

Anonymous And Efficient Message Authentication Scheme For Smart Grid, Libing Wu, Jing Wang, Sherali Zeadally, Debiao He

Information Science Faculty Publications

Smart grid has emerged as the next-generation electricity grid with power flow optimization and high power quality. Smart grid technologies have attracted the attention of industry and academia in the last few years. However, the tradeoff between security and efficiency remains a challenge in the practical deployment of the smart grid. Most recently, Li et al. proposed a lightweight message authentication scheme with user anonymity and claimed that their scheme is provably secure. But we found that their scheme fails to achieve mutual authentication and mitigate some typical attacks (e.g., impersonation attack, denial of service attack) in the smart grid …

Real-Time Pricing Strategy Considering The Risk Of Smart Grid, Hongbo Zhu, Gao Yan, Yeming Dai Jan 2019

Real-Time Pricing Strategy Considering The Risk Of Smart Grid, Hongbo Zhu, Gao Yan, Yeming Dai

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: The real-time electricity price mechanism is an ideal method to adjust the power balance between supply and demand in smart grid. Its implementation has profound impacts on the users' behavior and the operation and management of electricity power grid’s safety. The users’ demand behavior plays a regulatory role in designing real-time electricity pricing strategy. Aiming at maximizing social welfare, the dynamic change of users’ aggregate demand is analyzed, which corrects the electricity risk items in online real-time risk model in the way of changing the individual user’s power fluctuations to all the users’ demand power fluctuations, and the optimization …

The Next-Generation Retail Electricity Market In The Context Of Distributed Energy Resources: Vision And Integrating Framework, Josue Campos Do Prado, Wei Qiao, Liyan Qu, Julio Romero Aguero Jan 2019

The Next-Generation Retail Electricity Market In The Context Of Distributed Energy Resources: Vision And Integrating Framework, Josue Campos Do Prado, Wei Qiao, Liyan Qu, Julio Romero Aguero

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications

The increasing adoption of distributed energy resources (DERs) and smart grid technologies (SGTs) by end-user retail customers is changing significantly both technical and economic operations in the distribution grid. The next-generation retail electricity market will promote decentralization, efficiency, and competitiveness by accommodating existing and new agents through new business models and transactive approaches in an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). However, these changes will bring several technical challenges to be addressed in transmission and distribution systems. Considerable activities have been carried out worldwide to study the impacts of integrating DERs into the grid and in the wholesale electricity market. However, the …

A Transmission Optimization Algorithm For Smart Load Controllers, Ohyoung Song Jan 2019

A Transmission Optimization Algorithm For Smart Load Controllers, Ohyoung Song

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper introduces a transmission optimization algorithm for wireless transmissions between smart load controllers and a corresponding gateway in wireless personal area networks, where smart load controllers connect several electrical appliances through their corresponding load interfaces, measure the power consumption from each electrical appliance connected to the load controller, and control on/off switching through its load interface. The aim of this paper is to reduce the traffic load of power consumption data in electrical appliances used in the building area network and the smart grid network. The proposed algorithm allows the smart load controller to efficiently reduce traffic load even …
