The Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center has developed a methodology for testing operational-level training simulation systems. The methodology is built on analyses of the military tasks that an operational-level simulation is intended to train. These tasks are derived from the U.S. Department of Defense Universal Joint Task List. The methodology analyzes the categories of capabilities the simulation should have to support those tasks based on operational-level-military entities and actions. Cross-referencing the tasks and capabilities leads to functionality items the simulation should have.
