Identifying Particulate Matter Spatial Variation In The El Paso Del Norte Region Using Land-Use Regression Modeling And Data Obtained From A Network Of Low-Cost Sensors, Leonardo Demetrio Vazquez-Raygoza Dec 2022

Identifying Particulate Matter Spatial Variation In The El Paso Del Norte Region Using Land-Use Regression Modeling And Data Obtained From A Network Of Low-Cost Sensors, Leonardo Demetrio Vazquez-Raygoza

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

The emergence and rise in popularity of low-cost sensors for atmospheric observation aresetting a new precedent in identifying emission hotspots and providing high-resolution spatial and temporal data. Furthermore, low-cost sensors are becoming popular among institutions and the public, allowing community scientists to become more involved in air quality monitoring. However, concerns about the accuracy and precision of low-cost sensors have been questioned. Most recent research has focused on the utility of real-time monitoring and calibration requirements for these sensors. A low-cost monitoring project has deployed sensors in the El Paso del Norte region in low and high annual average daily …

Evaluation Of Ozone Trends And Distribution In The Paso Del Norte Region Using Tceq's Cams Data And Ozone Data Collected At Two Supplemental Sites, Adrian Michael Sandoval Jan 2012

Evaluation Of Ozone Trends And Distribution In The Paso Del Norte Region Using Tceq's Cams Data And Ozone Data Collected At Two Supplemental Sites, Adrian Michael Sandoval

The purpose of this research was to determine whether the city of El Paso will continue to be in attainment if the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revises the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) of 8-hour average ozone concentration from 0.075 parts per million (ppm) to 0.070 ppm. For the duration of El Paso's ozone season, June-September 2012, two 2B Technology Ozone 202 monitors were deployed at proposed locations, not previously monitored. This was done in order to quantify concentration of ozone. In addition, ozone and meteorological data was downloaded from several Continuous Ambient Monitoring Stations (CAMS) in the Paso …

Analysis Of Particulate Matter Air Quality Impacts On Sunland Park, New Mexico Due To Dust Emissions From Puerto Anapra, Mexico Using A Complex Terrain Air Dispersion Model Calpuff, Grisel Edith Arizpe Jan 2012

Analysis Of Particulate Matter Air Quality Impacts On Sunland Park, New Mexico Due To Dust Emissions From Puerto Anapra, Mexico Using A Complex Terrain Air Dispersion Model Calpuff, Grisel Edith Arizpe

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

The City of Sunland Park is located in Doña Ana County in southern New Mexico. The City has unusual boundaries which border not only with other communities in New Mexico but also the State of Chihuahua, Mexico to the south and the City of El Paso, Texas to the east. This area is considered part of the Paso del Norte Airshed (PdNA), which is comprised also by El Paso County, Texas and Ciudad (Cd.) Juarez, Mexico. Historically, this region has had air quality problems and compliance issues with National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), including particulate matter and ozone pollution. …

Analysis Of Indoor And Outdoor Particulate Matter At Various Residences In The El Paso Region, Joseph Christopher Pinon Jan 2011

Analysis Of Indoor And Outdoor Particulate Matter At Various Residences In The El Paso Region, Joseph Christopher Pinon

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

This thesis is a presentation of particulate matter data collected from February 2007 to June 2008. Personal environment monitors (PEM), which measured 7-day PM2.5 concentrations, had been deployed at 14 homes during the 2007 year and deployed in 16 different homes during the 2008 sampling year. Within each sampling year, sampling occurred for two one-week (7-day) periods during each season. In addition to PEM sampling, a tapered element oscillating microbalance (TEOM) continuous sampler had been deployed in both indoors and outdoors at one pre-selected household per week. Gravimetric, chemical, and black carbon analysis had been performed on the PEM PM2.5 …
