3d Printing Of Earthen Materials: Toward The Carbon-Zero Construction, Shiva Bhusal
3d Printing Of Earthen Materials: Toward The Carbon-Zero Construction, Shiva Bhusal
Civil Engineering ETDs
In recent years, digital manufacturing techniques in the architecture and construction industry have rapidly gained attention, especially with 3D printing, also called additive manufacturing. The use of cement has been common in modern construction and is now being explored for 3D printing. However, due to cement's contribution to approximately 7 percent of global carbon emissions and its high cost, research on sustainable and greener materials has gained attention. Previous studies on alternative construction have examined the mechanical and rheological properties of soil mixes, but not much attention has been given to printability evaluation, shrinkage, and cracking, which can affect the …
Analysis Of Coal Combustion By-Products Disposal Practices At The San Juan Mine: Hydrologic And Water Quality Issues, Bruce Thomson
Analysis Of Coal Combustion By-Products Disposal Practices At The San Juan Mine: Hydrologic And Water Quality Issues, Bruce Thomson
Civil Engineering Faculty Publications
Coal Combustion By-Products (CCBs) are generated by the burning of coal for electric power generation and as waste streams from emissions control systems. They consist of bottom ash from the furnaces, fly ash from electrostatic precipitators, and flue gas desulfurization sludge from air pollution scrubbers. Depending on the characteristics of the coal, CCBs may contain high concentrations of metals or other constituents that present a threat to ground or surface water resources if not properly managed. This report describes results of an investigation of CCBs generated by a power plant in northwestern New Mexico. Coal Combustion By-Products from this plant …
A Plane Coordinate System For Bernalillo County, Karl V. Morin
A Plane Coordinate System For Bernalillo County, Karl V. Morin
Civil Engineering ETDs
The first purpose of this thesis is to frame an enabling act that could be submitted to legislature for adoption. Such an act would authorize the use of plane coordinate system, but not make it mandatory. Twenty-four states have passed laws establishing state coordinate systems.
A second purpose of this thesis is to provide practicing engineers with all the necessary information and explanatory material in one manuscript to permit them to apply the system to their work. An example is worked out in detail using local points known to local men and fully explained step by step.
