Physicochemical Characterization Of Metal Organic Framework Materials: A Mini Review, Hussein R. Abid, Muhammad R. Azhar, Stefan Iglauer, Zana H. Rada, Ahmed Al-Yaseri, Alireza Keshavarz

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising materials offering exceptional performance across a myriad of applications, attributable to their remarkable physicochemical properties such as regular porosity, crystalline structure, and tailored functional groups. Despite their potential, there is a lack of dedicated reviews that focus on key physicochemical characterizations of MOFs for the beginners and new researchers in the field. This review is written based on our expertise in the synthesis and characterization of MOFs, specifically to provide a right direction for the researcher who is a beginner in this area. In this way, experimental errors can be reduced, and wastage of time …

Synthesis And Characterization Of Dinitro Pentamethylene Tetramine (Dpt), M. M. Seleet, S. A. Hassanien, M. A. Radwan, M. A. Sadek Aug 2019

Synthesis And Characterization Of Dinitro Pentamethylene Tetramine (Dpt), M. M. Seleet, S. A. Hassanien, M. A. Radwan, M. A. Sadek

Chemical Engineering

Preparation of dinitro pentamethylene tetramine (DPT) through the action of nitrating mixture formed of ammonium nitrate and fuming nitric acid on hexamine in presence of acetic acid, acetic anhydride and p-formaldehyde has been carried out. DPT was also prepared from hexamine dinitrate which is an important intermediate appears through preparation of DPT from hexamine directly. Prepared DPT was purified and then characterized through the determination of melting point, element test, FTIR spectrometry, UV spectrometry, and high performance liquid chromatography "HPLC". The obtained results were reliable and consistent with the literature.

Follow-Up And Kinetic Model Selection Of Dinitro Pentamethylene Tetramine (Dpt), Hany A. Elazab Dr Jun 2019

Follow-Up And Kinetic Model Selection Of Dinitro Pentamethylene Tetramine (Dpt), Hany A. Elazab Dr

Chemical Engineering

The Synthetic route of Cyclotetramethylene Tetramine is implemented through the reaction of hexamine and nitrating mixture that is formed as a result of a reaction between ammonium nitrate and fuming nitric acid. The reaction medium includes acetic acid, acetic anhydride and p-formaldehyde. This synthetic pathway is relatively long and both of hexamine dinitrate and Dinitro Pentamethylene Tetramine (DPT) are considered as the two main intermediate compounds. The former compound (hexamine dinitrate) was prepared, purified, and then characterized. Conversion of hexamine dinitrate into DPT has been followed up experimentally at different temperatures. Various factors including temperature and time has been investigated. …

Preparation And Characterization Of Decorative And Heat Insulating Floor Tiles For Buildings Roofs, Hany A. Elazab Dr Aug 2018

Preparation And Characterization Of Decorative And Heat Insulating Floor Tiles For Buildings Roofs, Hany A. Elazab Dr

Chemical Engineering

Since the beginning of the 5th century, people felt the urge to construct a sort of heat insulation system to their houses. This research paper focuses on the preparation, development and design of heat insulating tiles using materials like automobile tires powder and rice husk which are materials that are available at almost negligible costs and great amounts. Throughout this paper, experimental work will be provided to document, analyze and compare different insulating materials based on their thermal conductivity factor (K-factor), eco-nomic aspects, contribution to a greener earth, and mechanical properties. The results show that a mixture of used automobile …

Microstructure And Rheology Of Carbon Nanotubes At Air-Water Interfaces, Charles D. Young May 2016

Microstructure And Rheology Of Carbon Nanotubes At Air-Water Interfaces, Charles D. Young

Honors Scholar Theses

This work characterizes the material properties of carbon nanotubes at air-water interfaces for potential use in creating stable emulsions. Properties such as length, aspect ratio, contact angle, microstructural ordering, surface pressure, compression and shear elastic moduli, stresses, surface viscosities and non-linearity are explored. Challenges such as deviation from a classical analysis of monolayers are encountered in the form of aggregation, mechanical contributions, and interface relaxation. These factors are taken into account to explain experimental measurements and trends. Ultimately, existing models for more homogeneous systems are resolved with observations to offer insight and areas of promise moving forward.

An Overview Of Acerc Research In Fuel Characterization And Reaction Mechanisms, Ronald J. Pugmire, Thomas H. Fletcher Jan 1993

An Overview Of Acerc Research In Fuel Characterization And Reaction Mechanisms, Ronald J. Pugmire, Thomas H. Fletcher

Faculty Publications

A major objective of the Advanced Combustion Engineering Research Center is the development and verification of data on fuel characterization and reaction mechanisms and rates that can be incorporated into submodels for use in the comprehensive combustion codes. As technology has advanced, the levels of analytical sophistication has also advanced, making it possible to augment the existing body of information with new data. From this new data it is possible to draw new insights regarding the complex nature of coal and the various processes associated with combustion. The ACERC program has made it possible to bring different disciplines together to …
