An Ensemble Dnn Model For Automatic Detection Of Covid-19 From Cxr Scans, Hagar Hesham Eldawoudy, Mohamed Abdelazim Mohamed, Eman Abdelhalim

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The new coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been destructive to human life and has resulted in a significant number of deaths globally. Detecting COVID-19 as early as possible is a critical way to prohibit the virus from quickly passing among people. RT-PCR is a method used for COVID-19 detection, but it is very expensive and isn’t an accurate method due to its sensitivity of 60–70%. For these reasons, deep learning and imaging techniques are combined by doctors, scientific experts, and professionals for accurate and rapid COVID-19 detection. In this work, we propose a stacked ensemble model based on Linear Regression …

Reducing Scour Hole Dimensions Around Bridge Circular Piers Using Hexagonal Collars, Heba Kassem, El-Masry A. A, Reda Diab

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Bridge failure, due to local scour at bridge circular pier foundations, has become a critical issue in river and bridge engineering, which might lead to transportation disruption, loss of lives and economic problems. Based on an experimental perspective, this study is focused on the influence of collar’s shape on decreasing scour depth at bridge piers that were explored. Hexagonal collars with three shapes were investigated (sloped, sloped with holes, and sloped with ribs). The collars were installed on the bed level with diameter equals to three times the diameter of pier. To achieve the results, experiments were performed in clear-water …

Classification Of Kidney Masses Using Convolution Neural Network, Nada M. Yakout, Eman Abdelhalim, Abdalla Abdelhalim, Hossam El-Din Moustafa

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Classification of tumors among kidney masses (KM) through deep neural networks is one of the most important applications for detecting the disease at an early stage. It can increase patient survival rates, prevent mass growth, and prevent complications. Preoperative multi-phase abdominal Contrast Enhancement Computed Tomography (CE-CT) is widely used to detect lesions of kidney masses in order to avoid unneeded biopsy or surgery. However, decisions about treatment are difficult because of inter-observer variability caused by minute variations in the imaging characteristics of mass sub-types. In this study, we offer a comprehensive deep learning model using a Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN) for …

Revolutionary Artificial Intelligence Architectural Design Solutions; Is It An Opportunity Or A Threat?, Mahmoud Desouki, T. A. El-Haddad, Bahaa El-Boshey

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Architectural design is uniquely complex, time-consuming work, so AI promises major benefits but also risks. Architectural design software programs have recently made an impressive development, especially those that use artificial intelligence. AI could transform design and construction with tools enabling generative design, parametric modeling, simulation, and optimization. However, AI’s impact remains unclear. Adoption depends on architects leveraging AI to augment judgment rather than replace it. Factors limiting AI include limited education/experience, threats to creative skills architects value, and unreliable AI design tools. While many see AI as an opportunity, not an endangerment, optimism and uncertainty prevail. AI may ultimately enhance …

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Hydrogen recovery unit is important to remove H2S from the off gases generated from various units in refinery and recovers hydrogen. The recovered hydrogen reduces the quantity of hydrogen needed to be produced from hydrogen production unit required for hydro-treating processes in the refinery. The off gas generated from this unit is used as fuel gas. This is achieved at reasonable cost and with maximum protection to people, equipment, materials, and the environment. Proper operation will ensure that these goals are met. The required purity is (>99.9 mol%).

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a potentially spectral efficient approach for beyond-fifth-generation wireless networks. This paper investigates the joint user pairing, and power allocation problem in a cooperative-NOMA (CNOMA) with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) capabilities. The purpose of this work is to enhance the sum-rate of users with poor channel conditions while guaranteeing residual energy for paired users with good channel conditions as compensation for their cooperation. To overcome this challenge, we divided it into two parts: power allocation (PA) and user pairing (UP). The particle swarm-optimization (PSO) method is utilized to address the PA issue, whereas …

Scour Mitigation At Bridge Abutments Using Spur Dikes, Dina Hamdy Mustafa Mustafa Al Sirtasy, Hossam Abd El-Aziz Ahmed Abd El-Gawad, Mohamed T. Shamaa

Mansoura Engineering Journal

One of the main reasons for bridge failure is local scour at the bridge abutments. Laboratory experiments, under clear water scour condition, were carried out to investigate scour reduction around the vertical bridge abutment by adding one upstream spur dike. Sand with a median and standard deviation of diameter equal to 0.80 mm and 2.173 mm respectively, formed the bed material. Three different stages of spur dikes with varying sets as: 1) distances from the abutment (6 sets), 2) orientation angles (4 sets), and 3) lengths (3 sets), were considered. Effects of all spur dikes are studied with respect to …

Mansoura Engineering Journal

The influence of composite girders on the modified buckling factor for columns was investigated in both braced and unbraced frames. The composite girders' end conditions were represented as rigid and hinged . Furthermore, based on the proposed stiffness parameter, the derived formulation follows the same assumptions as the standard effective length factor (K-factor). Moreover, the suggested buckling factor equations for composite girders in braced and unbraced frames were obtained using the slope-deflection method. Concerning the unbraced frame, the proposed buckling factor of columns restrained by the composite girder improves the effective length calculation and makes for a more accurate and …
