The ability to interact and interrelate with people from other cultures and ethnicities has great value in a world becoming increasingly more global in its orientation. Not only have institutions invested time and resources to this end, students have become increasingly interested in these opportunities as well. The purpose of this study was to determine whether participation in a study abroad program at a private, liberal arts university in Minnesota correlated to an overall higher level of ethnocultural empathy among participating students.
