Post Pandemic Aquatics: Professionals On Deck, Susan J. Grosse

As aquatic programs re-open and/or expand as COVID restrictions lift, avoiding virus transmission is a top health and safety concern. This article presents options for safe social distancing for professionals and participants during teaching of swim lessons, coaching sessions, and aquatic exercise classes. Emphasis is on practical, session-to-session issues. Suggestions are applicable to all ages of participants in aquatic programs. Focus is on information for aquatic professionals providing direct participant service. Guidelines for program management are also included.

Capstone Experience
This capstone project serves as an important piece of greater project studying bison handling. Bison production is both a growing and dangerous industry. As a new enterprise in many parts of the country and on tribal lands, significant numbers of untrained employees may be hired. This project undertakes methods to better understand the risks associated with bison handling and to thereby improve handling procedures and increase safety. Herd managers (from tribal and non-tribal sites), researchers, safety experts, and stakeholders were brought together for a roundtable meeting in Omaha. It is essential that school systems in the United States strive to make physical education programs as safe as possible. To ignore this fact is to invite mass disapproval by the general public. Once this has happened a curtailment of physical education programs could take place which would, eventually, have detremental effects on the physical fitness of youth. As in any other phase of school work the primary responsibility for the successful functioning of the school safety program in physical education rests with the administrator.
