Background/ Rationale: It has been established that Interprofessional Education (IPE) offers a solution to foster teamwork and improve patient care and should be implemented early in professional role development. Thomas Jefferson University has been providing IPE to interprofessional healthcare students for over 5 years. A long term strategic goal was identified to “create innovative learning environments that support interprofessional education including state-of-the-art technologies”. In actualizing this goal, the curriculum was enhanced with technology supported collaborative learning techniques to assist in group processing and reflection. Increasing emphasis on interprofessional collaborative practice to improve health care delivery quality and safety led nursing faculty in a small liberal arts university to explore a unique educational initiative with School of Business Administration faculty. While developing a master of science in nursing administration option, the opportunity to create a collaborative undergraduate health care administration concentration with the School of Business Administration developed. Common competencies and potential shared courses were identified. After launching the initiative, faculty from both schools collaborated to evaluate outcomes. Schools of nursing are slow in training their students to keep up with the fast approaching era of electronic healthcare documentation. This paper discusses the importance of nursing documentation, and describes the field-testing of an electronic health record, the Sabacare Clinical Care Classification (CCC©) system. The PC-CCC©, designed as a Microsoft Access® application, is an evidence-based electronic documentation system available via free download from the internet. A sample of baccalaureate nursing students from a mid-Atlantic private college used this program to document the nursing care they provided to patients during their sophomore level clinical experience. The question of leadership in nursing education is one that has been examined extensively in the literature. In this paper, the authors will initially provide a vignette written in the first person aimed at illustrating the ethos of the university in which they work. This vignette will then be followed by an analysis of actions and strategies used in a capacity building project aimed at developing novice nurse academics’ research skills. There are great health disparities within the AI/AN population according to IHS documentation. Historical events such as complex political issues, poor education, boarding schools, and loss of language have heightened this difficult healthcare situation. Furthermore, issues such as lack of health professionals (especially AI/AN nurses) and access to healthcare services add to the dilemma. The cause for the low number of AI/AN nurses who graduate from college varies, but one significant area to consider is the relationship between poor academic performance influenced by cultural conflict.
