The most important innovation in e-learning in recent years has been the development of Learning Design software. Learning Design is based on the process' of learning rather than on the content to be learnt. The Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) is a new public domain, e-learning platform that enables educators to plan and implement sequences of collaborative learning activities. These 'learning sequences' are analogous to the traditional lesson plans that have always been an integral part of quality teaching.
