Museum-School Partnerships: From Creative Discourse To Resource Development, Emma Doctors
Master's Projects and Capstones
This paper aims to explore museum-school partnerships and best educational practices within each entity's efforts to collaborate. The project surveys museum education and explores programmatic and curriculum development that help to serve as enrichment for students. These partnerships are important to the museum studies field as it fulfills a fiduciary responsibility that museums hold - to educate the public. By fulfilling the needs of both entities (museums and schools), creative discourse ensues, creating solutions for students to enrich their learning. I end with a project to propose the development of an exhibition resource guide that would combine the knowledge and ...

Honors Theses AY 17/18
Mathematics instruction at the elementary level is a complex process. How does one meet the various needs of students with different learning styles and varied instructional levels while keeping every child engaged in the lesson? During my student teaching experience in a third-grade class, I planned, taught, and evaluated two math lessons with the goal of improving my implementation of mathematics instruction. These lessons focused on division and were based on information provided by the Go Math mathematics curriculum. The purpose of this content is to strengthen the students understanding of operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It ...

The purpose of this qualitative action research study is to examine what perceptions students have about failure in order to help teachers find non-material incentives or reward structures to help give students self-worth. The research method involved the collection of data through surveys, a guided research project about the failures of famous people and ...
Effective Resource Utilization In Arkansas Public Schools, Ryan Sanders
Effective Resource Utilization In Arkansas Public Schools, Ryan Sanders
Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses
Teacher pay in Arkansas public schools varies widely from district to district across the state. This pay discrepancy is driven by both the funds available to a district and by how these funds are allocated. There is a standard per student budget given to districts across the state, but this budget can be supplemented by additional property taxes collected on property within a district. This leaves districts with more highly valued property at an advantage. Districts are free to allocate their budget for teacher pay as they see fit, with constraints on number of students per teacher and minimum teacher ...

Sustainability Children's Book, Linden Cheek
Biological and Agricultural Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses
As human driven climate change continues to alter our planet, persuading the general public to adopt sustainable living practices has become increasingly important. Storytelling has long been a part of human culture, and recent studies have emphasized the power of storytelling to influence the audience as a means of changing behavior. This project attempted to teach sustainable principles to primary school children through the creation of a scientific children’s book. The book communicated the maxim of “reduce, reuse, recycle” by tracing a fictitious story of a town where children frequently buy new toys and throw the old toys away ...

Cybersecurity In The Classroom: Bridging The Gap Between Computer Access And Online Safety, Andrew Malecki
Cyber Security Capstone Research Project Reports
According to ISACA, there will be a global shortage of 2 million cybersecurity professionals worldwide by 2019. Additionally, according to Experian Data Breach Resolution, as much as 80% of all network breaches can be traced to employee negligence. These problems will not solve themselves, and they likewise won’t improve without drastic action. An effort needs to be made to help direct interested and qualified individuals to the field of cybersecurity to move toward closing this gap. Surveying Educations Professionals To Explore How To Incorporate Trauma Education In Ucf's Teach Preparation Program, Jordan Doman
Surveying Educations Professionals To Explore How To Incorporate Trauma Education In Ucf's Teach Preparation Program, Jordan Doman
Honors Undergraduate Theses
Traumatic events do not discriminate based on economic status, race, culture, or age. This is true for the hundreds of thousands of students who walk into classrooms every day having experienced trauma. Our teachers are then challenged to support these students in a time when their ability to learn may be affected by trauma.
The goal of my thesis is to show the need to educate preservice teachers in the University of Central Florida's elementary education teacher preparation program about students experiencing trauma and how to best support these students. By analyzing existing literature and through interviews with professionals ...

The data collected comes from a year of collaboration with the Strong Girls Read Strong Books book club, a qualitative research study created by Dr. Renita Schmidt and Dr. Amanda Haertling Thein. The Strong Girls group meets at a local elementary school on Friday ...
