This is an oral history interview with Betty Castor, former president of the University of South Florida. In this interview, Castor briefly describes her childhood and education, then discusses her time as a teacher in Uganda. After returning to the United States, she came to Miami and taught in a recently integrated school there for several years. She and her former husband then moved to Tampa, where she became the first woman to serve on the Hillsborough County Commission.
