Journal of Refugee & Global Health
Refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo are one of the largest refugee groups globally and in the US, however, there is limited research with this group. Therefore, objectives of this study were to examine: 1) obesity and hypertension rates, 2) diet and lifestyle behavior changes, and 3) diet, lifestyle and social factors of obesity and hypertension risk of Congolese refugees in the US. Broader Strokes: The Curricular And Pedagogical Possibilities Of Multiage Educational Settings, Juria C. Wiechmann, Daniel R. Conn, Leslee J. Thorpe
The Qualitative Report
Multiage classrooms seem to be an idea of the past, as students in most schools across the country are grouped by age. However, research by Goldman (1981), Rhoades (1966), and Eisner (2003) argue that multiage grouping has significant social, behavioral, and intellectual advantages for students. This study aims to understand how curriculum and pedagogy interact within multiage system, as …

Master's Capstone Projects
The purpose if this qualitative research is to acquire new knowledge in the African visual representational landscape, a digital space carefully filmed and edited by some of the most celebrated and acknowledged, mostly Western, NGOs in the world. The most watched Africa-related video from 50 NGOs were selected, downloaded and analyzed. After continuous re-watching of a 3.5 hour long set of visual data tree themes emerged. One segment relates around the NGOs intervention, another about the term or statement ‘help’, and the last theme is HIV/AIDS. The findings include the realization that the beneficiary was never explaining the intervention of …

MA TESOL Collection
This project concerns itself with the Problems of English Teaching in Africa and suggestions toward improvement.
The writer, after three years' experience in American public schools, universities, and other educational programs, has come to realize that there is much to be done to improve teacher training methods and techniques in the teacher training colleges and in-service training of teachers in Africa. Workshop programs with new and developing materials of teaching and techniques are recommended as one solution to these deficiencies.
The ideas in this paper grew out of interviews with former American teachers of English in Africa and also articles …
