A smart learning environment (SLE) encompasses the use of advanced technology and smart pedagogical teaching skills tailored to suit students with diverse learning needs. In recent years, some countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have formulated policies to implement SLE in their education systems. Since students are the intended beneficiaries of SLE policy, it is crucial to explore their perceptions of its implementation in a novel context. Therefore, this study explored the attitudes of students towards the implementation of SLE in the UAE. Abstract

This qualitative research study explores high school teachers' perceptions of the factors influencing their self-efficacy during emergency remote teaching (ERT) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study, conducted in a New Jersey high school, investigates the immediate transition from traditional in-person instruction to fully remote learning. By utilizing semi-structured interviews, the research focuses on five emergent themes: Adaptability and Flexibility, Student-Centered Approach, Communication and Transparency, Resourcefulness and Connection, and Challenges and Uncertainty Management.

Knowing that there is no singular event that leads to learning a language, and factoring in the extent an individual’s culture can affect language learning, this study emphasizes the importance of a cross-linguistic approach to continue to broaden the scope of language acquisition research. Understanding what a dual immersion program is and knowing the different models within the program allow parents to select which program is best suited for their students. There are many elements of qualitative data analysis that may appear intangible to novice researchers. In this article, I present an approach to a data analysis workshop with students, where I do my best to avoid the instruction to “fold in the cheese,” as per the television series Schitt’s Creek. Students attend 90-minute workshops where they use an assortment of buttons to practice different strategies of qualitative analysis. The tactile mechanism of sorting objects has proven invaluable in workshops, as it helps students to physically organize their thoughts and takes pressure off to find the “right” answer.
