A smart learning environment (SLE) encompasses the use of advanced technology and smart pedagogical teaching skills tailored to suit students with diverse learning needs. In recent years, some countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have formulated policies to implement SLE in their education systems. Since students are the intended beneficiaries of SLE policy, it is crucial to explore their perceptions of its implementation in a novel context. Therefore, this study explored the attitudes of students towards the implementation of SLE in the UAE. To conduct this investigation, 1857 secondary school students (grades 7 and 12) were recruited nationwide. …

Experiences Of Educators With Libraries And Educational Technology To Close The Literacy Gap: A Phenomenological Study, Pamela Madina Jones
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to discover how educators view the use of school libraries with educational technology’s contribution to the development of literacy skills of learners in K12 learning environments. The theoretical framework that guided this research study was Vygotsky and Leont’ev’s Activity theory. The central research question for this study was How do educators describe their professional experiences with school libraries and educational technology? High School Teachers' Perceptions Of The Factors That Foster And/Or Inhibit Self-Efficacy During Emergency Remote Teaching, Andrea Padelsky
Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
Abstract
This qualitative research study explores high school teachers' perceptions of the factors influencing their self-efficacy during emergency remote teaching (ERT) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study, conducted in a New Jersey high school, investigates the immediate transition from traditional in-person instruction to fully remote learning. By utilizing semi-structured interviews, the research focuses on five emergent themes: Adaptability and Flexibility, Student-Centered Approach, Communication and Transparency, Resourcefulness and Connection, and Challenges and Uncertainty Management.
The research study aligns with Albert Bandura's self-efficacy theory, examining how mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, social persuasion, and physiological arousal contribute to teachers' self-efficacy during …

Exploring Early Language Acquisition Through English And French, Rebecca C. Aguilar
Honors Capstones
Knowing that there is no singular event that leads to learning a language, and factoring in the extent an individual’s culture can affect language learning, this study emphasizes the importance of a cross-linguistic approach to continue to broaden the scope of language acquisition research. The primary objective is to identify and analyze the critical commonalities in the initial stages of learning English and French as first languages through two major categories: speech/language and culture. This project carried out an analytical review of 24 pieces of relevant literature, in both languages, in an effort to highlight key findings. Those findings include: …
Benefits Of Dual Immersion Programs On Elementary School Students, Belle Sanchez
Benefits Of Dual Immersion Programs On Elementary School Students, Belle Sanchez
Capstone Projects and Master's Theses
This senior capstone research project aims to share the benefits of dual immersion programs in elementary school years. Understanding what a dual immersion program is and knowing the different models within the program allow parents to select which program is best suited for their students. A key point in clarification is that a dual immersion program does not aim to replace an English, or standard, education program, but adds a target language to enhance the students learning. This study looks at the overall benefits that students can gain in elementary school, from kindergarten through fifth grade, sometimes through eighth grade. …

Fold In The Cheese? An Approach To Teaching Qualitative Data Analysis To Students, Jennifer Jackson Phd
Fold In The Cheese? An Approach To Teaching Qualitative Data Analysis To Students, Jennifer Jackson Phd
The Qualitative Report
There are many elements of qualitative data analysis that may appear intangible to novice researchers. In this article, I present an approach to a data analysis workshop with students, where I do my best to avoid the instruction to “fold in the cheese,” as per the television series Schitt’s Creek. Students attend 90-minute workshops where they use an assortment of buttons to practice different strategies of qualitative analysis. The tactile mechanism of sorting objects has proven invaluable in workshops, as it helps students to physically organize their thoughts and takes pressure off to find the “right” answer. The nature of …

South Carolina Association for Middle Level Education Journal
Everyone knows that teaching has always been a demanding job; however, in the last decade the demands on teachers have increased. Today, teachers have to answer to parents, administrators, legislators, and the general public when it comes to their classroom practice and educational beliefs. In addition, long hours, classroom management issues, lack of support, low pay, poor working conditions, and the demands of high-stakes testing have all contributed to widespread teacher stress.
This collection of resources will make your teaching life so much easier. Bringing these authors into your classroom can give teachers a broader understanding of how to configure …

Memory As A Foundation For Learning, Manuel Vicuna, Juan Manuel Vicuna
Memory As A Foundation For Learning, Manuel Vicuna, Juan Manuel Vicuna
Undergraduate Research Symposium
The object of this research is to emphasize the importance of memory in the professional environment and to suggest a change in the direction of educational plans to endow students with a powerful cognitive tool – memory - for the rest of their lives. Presently, memory is a fundamental human function that the educational process dismisses, making learning more difficult. Memory and professional intuition – both the result of knowledge and experience - should be a natural adjunct to any training and not a sudden source of inspiration as intuition, in particular, needs conscious and subconscious cultivation. In both subjects, …

Money Doesn’T Grow On Trees: How Financial Literacy Is Learned And Developed Within American Childhood, Nate Lewis
Money Doesn’T Grow On Trees: How Financial Literacy Is Learned And Developed Within American Childhood, Nate Lewis
Soaring: A Journal of Undergraduate Research
Financial literacy refers to the ability to process and utilize economic information to make informed decisions for their wellbeing. Given concerning indicators of financial outcomes within the United States, it is crucial to understand how and when strong financial behavior is developed. Efforts to enhance financial education have explored incorporating financial concepts into children’s literature and games. Yet, research indicates that financial literacy is far more rooted in the habits learned from one’s family, despite the emphasis often placed on schooling and socioeconomic status. It is therefore evident that efforts to promote financial literacy must always involve empowering family members …
