Schools are held accountable by mandated standardized testing measuring academic achievement. Due to limited budgets, administrators have to decide how to balance funding for athletic teams and school music ensembles versus additional programs and positions that directly support academic achievement in tested subjects. The purpose of this causal-comparative study was to employ a quantitative research study to measure the degree of impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on students’ academic performance and determine the extent to which the MTSS program served to counter the impact of the pandemic on students’ reading and math performance. Closing the teacher diversity gap was fundamental to closing the achievement gap between White and Black students. The gap in teacher diversity has continued to widen over the last decade. As the number of Black students in public education increases, the number of Black teachers continued to decline. The teaching profession remained a predominately white female workforce. A lack of teacher diversity had a negative effect on all student achievement. Black teachers served as role models to Black students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the School Improvement Grant using the Turnaround Model to improve student academics, by looking at attendance, and drop out and graduation rates on ninth-grade achievement in Missouri. In the United States, within our urban schools, high school drop-out has been a serious, national crisis, which effects the graduation rate. هدفت هذه الدراسة التعرف على تصورات طلبة الصف العاشر الأساسي في محافظة إربد حول أثر ممارسة الأنشطة الرياضية في تطوير الجوانب الصحية والنفسية والاجتماعية والعلمية لديهم. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة، استخدم الباحثون استبانة بعد التحقق من صدقها وثباتها. تكونت الاستبانة من 23 فقرة موزعة في أربعة أبعاد، هي: البعد الصحي، البعد النفسي، البعد الاجتماعي، والبعد العلمي. تكون مجتمع الدراسة من جميع طلبة الصف العاشر في محافظة إربد, والبالغ عددهم (7500) طالبا وطالبة، وتم اختيار عينة الدراسة, والمكونة من (322) طالبا وطالبة بالطريقة الطبقية العشوائية. وتم تحديد معامل الاتساق الداخلي للاستبانة باستخدام معادلة كرونباخ الفا, والذي بلغ (0.84).

Research indicates that students with a high level of Grit and self-efficacy have higher levels of academic achievement. Grit is comprised of passion (consistency of interest) and perseverance of effort, for long-term goals. The purpose of this model is to increase Grit among underrepresented groups. It utilizes one aspect of self-efficacy, “vicarious experiences”, to increase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Grit among underrepresented groups. Historical contributions from individuals from underrepresented groups in STEM fields are used vicariously to promote student Grit by showing examples of perseverance resulting in academic excellence.
