The question addressed in this research project was, how can using literacy centers support a balanced literacy approach in a Pre-K classroom? The author’s motivation for completeing this capstone was to learn more about balanced literacy and how the use of balanced literacy could support her student’s learning. This capstone describes, in detail, what balanced literacy is, what literacy centers are , and how to use both to create an engaging learning environment for Pre-K students. The research question addressed in this project was, what impact do nonverbal behavior management strategies have on an elementary classroom? The motivating factor for this capstone was the struggle to find a behavior management system that worked in a new teacher’s elementary classroom. This capstone details nonverbal behavior management techniques, how to best implement them into practice, and how to track their results on a classroom’s culture. The research question addressed in this project was: How can high schools use yoga to foster social and emotional learning in students of all backgrounds? The author uses her personal teaching experiences to develop social and emotional learning (SEL) standards for public high schools in Minnesota. She then creates a yoga-based curriculum that meets those standards. The curriculum includes four units: 1) SelfAwareness, 2) Self-Management, 3) Social Awareness, and 4) Social Management. This mixed method study explores literature that tries to answer the question: How are schools currently using meaningful consequences that are effective and compliant with state laws, federal laws and district discipline policies for students receiving special education services? The paper looks at special education due process and what educators should do to change unwanted behavior that may exclude the student from their educational environment. Higher education instructors experience many uncivil behavior challenges among students in the classroom that affect learning. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the effect of higher education classroom management behavior strategies on learning. Guided by Bandura's social learning theory and Piaget's cognitive theory, the research questions were designed to explore the perceptions of instructors and students about classroom management behavior strategies used in college settings and how student classroom incivility affects learning.
