Ouachita Baptist University will host Dr. Youmee Kim in concert on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Dr. Kim, an acclaimed pianist, is a specialist in American contemporary piano music. Currently an assistant professor of piano at Ohio University, she holds a Master of Music degree from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea; a Master of Music degree from Indiana University; and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from Ohio State University.

Ouachita Baptist University will host Zachary Myers and Cody Walls for their sophomore musical theatre recitals on Friday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. The recitals are free and open to the public.

Myers, from Greenwood, Ark., and Walls, from Fort Smith, Ark., both are musical theatre majors. They are students of Dr. Glenda Secrest, professor of music, and Drew Hampton, assistant professor of theatre arts. Phyllis Walker, OBU staff accompanist, will provide piano accompaniment for both performances.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will present Seth Russell in his senor voice recital Tuesday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. The recital, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall. A reception will follow the recital in Hammons Gallery.

Russell, a senior vocal performance major from Crossett, Ark., is a three-time National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) regional finalist and a two-time NATS state finalist. Cai, associate professor of music at Ouachita, and his wife, Juhn, director of keyboard studies at Henderson State University, will showcase works for four hands on one piano, works for two pianos and solo pieces.

World-Renowned Pianist Andrew Cooperstock To Perform Feb. 1 At Ouachita, Rachel Gaddis, Ouachita News Bureau

Ouachita Baptist University will host guest musician Dr. Andrew Cooperstock for a piano recital Monday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. Cooperstock will also offer a master class prior to the recital at 3 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

A solo pianist and chamber musician, Cooperstock has appeared on six continents and in most of the 50 states. He has performed at the United Nations, New York’s Alice Tully, Merkin and Carnegie halls, Broadway’s 54 Below, Greenwich Village’s Le Poisson Rouge and Brooklyn’s BargeMusic.
