This is one in a series of case studies to enhance graduate employability. The theme of this case study is: • Emerging careers (preparing students for careers that do not yet exist) This case study on the role and context of emerging careers is based on interviews and focus groups with nine people across the stakeholder groups of employed graduates, students, educators and employers from four universities, and three businesses. This particular case study attempts to capture and share the insights of leading higher education thinkers/change agents. It is high time we moved performance assessment into the mobile age. Performance is one of the most difficult tasks to assess using traditional methods. The pen-and-paper method generates multiple administrative bottlenecks that prevent the assessor from focusing on their primary task of professional judgment. The application of mobile technology and tablet devices can now replace pen-and-paper assessment, and achieve significant synergies resulting from the combination of technology with the assessors’ professional judgment.

Many suggest that digital games are a way to address problems with schools, yet research on their ability to promote problem solving, critical thinking, and twenty-first century skill sets appears to be mixed. In this chapter, I suggest that the problem lies not with digital games, but with our conceptualization of what it means to promote problem solving and critical thinking, and how transfer of such skills works in general and, specifically, with games. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la influencia de la resolución de problemas en el desarrollo de habilidades investigativas: interpretativa, argumentativa y propositiva en Ciencias Naturales, en niños de primer ciclo.
