Improving student success and degree completion is one of the core principles of strategic enrollment management. To address this principle, institutional data were used to develop a statistical model to identify academically at-risk students. The model employs multiple linear regression techniques to predict students at risk of earning below a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) in their first semester of college. Aligning Competencies With Success: What Does It Take To Be An Effective Admissions Counselor, Ann M. Gansemer-Topf, Kasie Von Haden, Elyse Peggar

The admissions counselor position is a common entry-level professional position in higher education. However, little is known about the competencies needed to be successful in this position. Through interviews with entry-level admissions counselors, this study sought to better understand these competencies and their alignment with the recently created ACPA/NASPA Student Affairs competencies. Results and implications for practice are discussed.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the framing discourse of theorization and practice surrounding university-based Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) resource centers. While many studies about the 4-H camping experience focus on youth who are campers, few studies examine the outcomes of the experience for counselors. This study examines the extent to which 4-H camp results in transformative learning for 4-H members who serve as camp counselors, examines the perceived changes that occur within counselors, and describes the factors and characteristics of camp that result in personal transformation. The population for this study was 2012 Minnesota 4-H camp counselors.
