The main aim of the missionary education was to reach Christianity and thus convert all those who came within the four walls of the mission house. The British colonial Missions set up norms of religious education that progressively colonized the converts. Language makes a people. If a language is lost, the identity of the race is lost. Language is a universal concept and there is no society in the world where language is not used for communication. Many linguists have defined language as a means of communicating, ideas, thoughts, emotions and information, among others. The human race is imbued with the gift of verbal language, apparently, intelligible language for communication. There are other types of communication like the signs, symbols, gesticulations, braille for the blind and other non verbal communication media.
