The genesis of eclecticism can be traced to the time of certain Greek thinkers who were generally grouped as eclectics. The name was later transferred to Leibniz and Cousin. All this was in the Second and First centuries B.C. Eclecticism, according to Chambers English Dictionary is “selecting or borrowing; choosing the best out of everything; broad, the opposite of exclusive”. The emphasis of Social Studies is getting the best out of other disciplines which will enhance the tack of Social Studies in understanding man and his environments which can be Social, economic, cultural, political, historical, religious, geographic, scientific and technological.

In this research project, the author presents a curriculum for a Philosophy 101 college course that implements active learning techniques to enhance and motivate student learning. Teaching introductory philosophy is a difficult task due to the intricate nature of the subject matter. Teachers must discover instructional strategies that transmit philosophical knowledge more effectively beyond the employment of traditional teaching methods, such as a lecture, to their students. Executive Summary: Since 1990, Western’s Office of Survey Research (OSR) has surveyed alumni biennially. Alumni who are one to two years past graduation are invited to participate. They reflect on their experiences at Western, and on their current situation regarding family, education, and employment. OSR uses a mixture of online and telephone survey methodologies, then, when applicable, links survey results with Western’s student records, thus expanding their usefulness to researchers. The 2008 alumni survey was administered to graduates earning their bachelor’s degrees between the summer of 2006 and spring of 2007. Of the 3,028 eligible alumni, OSR received valid responses …
