The genesis of eclecticism can be traced to the time of certain Greek thinkers who were generally grouped as eclectics. The name was later transferred to Leibniz and Cousin. All this was in the Second and First centuries B.C. Eclecticism, according to Chambers English Dictionary is “selecting or borrowing; choosing the best out of everything; broad, the opposite of exclusive”. In the field of instructional technology critical thinking is valued both as a practice for those in the field and as a skill or habit to teach and measure. However, traditional conceptions of critical thinking are limited in their usefulness and restricted to particular kinds of thinking and reasoning. In this research project, the author presents a curriculum for a Philosophy 101 college course that implements active learning techniques to enhance and motivate student learning. Teaching introductory philosophy is a difficult task due to the intricate nature of the subject matter. Teachers must discover instructional strategies that transmit philosophical knowledge more effectively beyond the employment of traditional teaching methods, such as a lecture, to their students. Based on this author's research, active learning methods can provide an effective instructional technique for those who teach introductory philosophy courses. This Africentric historical inquiry introduces Wangari Maathai, 2004 Nobel Peace Prize recipient and internationally renowned Kenyan activist, as a visionary adult educator and leader of the liberatory environmental movement -The Green Belt Movement. The Movement addresses decades of mis-education through culturally grounded adult education activities that help communities understand the linkages between environmental degradation and poor governance, and educate people to participate in democracy.

Executive Summary: Since 1990, Western’s Office of Survey Research (OSR) has surveyed alumni biennially. Alumni who are one to two years past graduation are invited to participate. They reflect on their experiences at Western, and on their current situation regarding family, education, and employment. OSR uses a mixture of online and telephone survey methodologies, then, when applicable, links survey results with Western’s student records, thus expanding their usefulness to researchers. The 2008 alumni survey was administered to graduates earning their bachelor’s degrees between the summer of 2006 and spring of 2007. Of the 3,028 eligible alumni, OSR received valid responses …
